Position Summary
The Industrial Painter / Sand Blaster reports to the Blast and Paint Supervisor and the department’s Lead Hand. This position is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing various components used in the manufacturing of gas compressor units. The role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
(Include but are not limited to the following)
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, grinding, masking, and performing other surface preparation tasks.
- Mix and apply primers, paints, and coatings according to specifications and work orders.
- Set up materials and components in designated work areas for proper coating application.
- Operate and maintain painting equipment, including spray guns, sanders, grinders, and other hand and power tools.
- Inspect finished surfaces to ensure quality standards and coating specifications are met.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safe operation of equipment.
- Participate in toolbox meetings and safety training.
- Comply with and promote all company PPE requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of industrial painting experience required.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to safely use hand tools and shop equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders and coating specifications.
- Must be able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as required.

Physical Demands
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Stand for extended periods of time.
- Frequently kneel, bend, stoop, and move in confined areas with multiple moving parts.
- Perform repetitive motions associated with sanding, grinding, and spray painting.
Work Environment
This position is performed in a manufacturing environment. The employee may be exposed to:
- Hot, cold, and outdoor weather conditions
- Moving mechanical parts
- Fumes, dust, and caustic chemicals
- Elevated noise levels requiring hearing protection
