Location: Northern California — Bay Area / Sacramento Corridor
Service Area: HWD, SJC, OAK, SQL, LVK, CCR, MHR, MCC, APC, TRK, and surrounding FBOs
Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time to Start; flexible schedule required based on aircraft/customer needs
Pay: $28–$40 per hour, based on aircraft detailing experience
Additional Pay: Travel incentives, safety bonus, and quality bonus available

About Fortis AeroCare

Fortis AeroCare is a premium mobile aircraft detailing and jet appearance management company serving private aircraft owners, FBOs, charter operators, aircraft management companies, and corporate flight departments.

We provide aircraft interior detailing, exterior dry wash, brightwork polishing, belly cleaning, leather care, exterior protection, and monthly aircraft appearance management services.

Position Overview

We are hiring an experienced Lead Aircraft Detailing Technician / Mobile Crew Leader to lead field detailing operations across Northern California airports and FBOs.

The Lead Technician will be responsible for aircraft-safe detailing procedures, crew leadership, quality control, safety compliance, and professional service delivery around high-value private aircraft.

This position requires flexible availability based on customer and aircraft schedules. Aircraft detailing work may be scheduled during early mornings, evenings, weekends, or short-notice appointments depending on aircraft availability, FBO access, flight schedules, weather, and customer needs.

Main Responsibilities

Lead mobile aircraft detailing jobs at FBOs, hangars, and airport locations.
Perform aircraft interior and exterior detailing.
Complete aircraft dry wash / waterless wash services.
Perform bug removal, leading edge cleaning, belly cleaning, and brightwork touch-ups.
Clean aircraft cabins, carpets, leather seats, windows, galley, lavatory, and passenger areas.
Inspect and document aircraft condition before and after service.
Take before-and-after photos and report any pre-existing damage.
Lead and train 1–2 junior detailers.
Maintain FOD prevention standards at all times.
Keep tools, chemicals, towels, equipment, and mobile unit clean and organized.
Communicate professionally with FBO staff, pilots, aircraft managers, and customers.
Follow airport, FBO, environmental, and company safety procedures.

Required Experience

Hands-on aircraft detailing experience is strongly required for this lead role.
Experience working around private aircraft, corporate jets, turboprops, military aircraft, or general aviation aircraft.
Knowledge of aircraft-sensitive areas such as pitot tubes, static ports, antennas, sensors, vents, seals, acrylic windows, de-ice boots, and avionics areas.
Ability to follow checklists, SOPs, safety procedures, and customer instructions.
Ability to inspect and document aircraft condition before beginning work.
Valid California driver’s license and clean driving record.
Reliable transportation.
Ability to travel between Northern California airports and FBOs.
Must be available for flexible scheduling based on customer needs, aircraft availability, FBO access, and flight schedules, including possible early mornings, evenings, weekends, or short-notice service requests.
Ability to pass airport/FBO background checks or badging requirements where required.

Preferred Experience & Certifications

Certifications are preferred, not all mandatory.

Preferred experience or training includes:

Aircraft detailing certification.
Aviation detailing academy training.
FBO, line service, or ramp safety experience.
FOD prevention training.
OSHA 10-Hour General Industry.
Hazard Communication / SDS chemical safety training.
Brightwork polishing experience.
Ceramic coating certification.
Paint correction experience using dual-action polishers.
Aircraft dry wash, belly cleaning, leather care, and interior restoration experience.

Safety Expectations

Candidate must understand aircraft detailing is different from automotive detailing.

The Lead Technician must not perform aircraft maintenance, inspections, repairs, lubrication, or mechanical work. The technician must not touch aircraft controls, switches, avionics, open panels, or aircraft systems unless specifically authorized.

All work must be performed using aircraft-safe products and procedures, with strict care around pitot tubes, static ports, antennas, sensors, acrylic windows, de-ice boots, vents, seals, and avionics areas.

Schedule Requirement

Private aviation is schedule-sensitive. The ideal candidate must be dependable, responsive, and willing to adjust working hours when needed to support high-value aircraft customers.

Work may be scheduled based on:

Aircraft arrivals and departures
FBO or hangar access
Customer flight schedules
Weather conditions
Aircraft availability
Short-notice service requests
Early morning, evening, or weekend service needs

Compensation

$28–$40 per hour depending on experience.
