Full Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer, the weekend nurse manager will have demonstrated expertise in managing a busy medical office or hospital department. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated nursing leader with equal proficiencies in clinical judgement and business acumen.

This role requires excellent skills in interfacing with nursing staff, administrative teams, patients, families, physicians, emergency rooms, and ancillary health care providers.

The weekend nurse manager position is at our Framingham headquarters. Reliable transportation is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The weekend nurse manager will primarily be responsible for optimizing nurse productivity and expediting patient response times, in real-time, on busy weekends. Expertise in staff allocation and utilization are a must.

Additional weekend nurse manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Manage nurses to maintain rapid patient care throughout the weekend

· Monitor live calls between nurses and patients for quality assurance and training

· Provide nurses with real-time coaching and feedback

· Respond to inbound nurse questions on clinical and administrative topics

· Coordinate and communicate with the triage logistics team to re-allocate patient care requests as necessary

· Collaborate with the weekday nurse managers to hire, train, retain, and schedule nursing staff

· Respond to weekend nurse call-outs and rapidly backfill with other staff nurses

· Ensure correct patient care request prioritization

· Monitor call volumes and supplement or reduce nurse staffing in real time

· Conduct payroll approvals and performance evaluations

· Deliver detailed weekly reports regarding weekend call volumes, challenges, and solutions

· Participate in periodic meetings

· The manager may also triage patient calls on an as-needed basis

NURSING AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

· Active RN or NP license, multiple state licenses are preferred

Minimum 10 years combined pediatric and adult direct medical-surgical patient care experience required. ER, Critical Care (CCU, ICU, PICU, NICU), OR, PACU, experience is preferred.

· Demonstrated experience managing nurses in a clinical setting

· Exceptional clinical judgement

· Patient-centric focus

· Past triage experience with Schmitt-Thompson protocols is required

BUSINESS AND EXPERIENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

· Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities

· Adept at prioritizing and organizing, with strong strategic and logistical skills

· Experience multitasking in a fast-paced environment

· Excellent telephone and written communication skills

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

· Three excellent professional references that demonstrate exceptional skills and outstanding reliability

· Commit to a weekend schedule

· Close proximity to Framingham with reliable transportation
