PacAero’s core businesses include an array of electronic connectors and housings for the world’s most extreme environments. PacAero is primarily located in Wenatchee, WA with a remote manufacturing site, Bonded Metals, located in Sequim, WA. Working together, we employ proprietary technologies, best practices engineering, and specialized manufacturing techniques to produce hermetic connectors and electronic packaging that perform in the world’s most extreme environments. PacAero’s products are hard at work in medical components, such as cardiac-function devices, on key aerospace & defense programs, in space and deep below the earth's surface.
The Position:
Job Summary
The Machinist positions are Trainee and Levels I-III. Trainee is a role designed to train individuals in the operation, setup, and maintenance of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC equipment. Machinist I works under general supervision and is responsible for setting up and operating manual or CNC machines to produce precision parts according to specifications. Machinist II operates and sets up CNC machines to produce precision parts, ensuring quality and efficiency in production. Machinist III is a highly skilled, independent contributor responsible for performing complex, multi-step setups and running production on advanced CNC machinery (3- and 4-axis).
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 5am-3:30pm. Eventually may need to work other schedules mentioned in the Work Environment criteria.

Level I Machinist Responsibilities
-
Run production parts, learn to set-up as ran quick change jobs. Be able to change and dial in new tools, make and understand tool and fixture offset adjustments.
-
Perform initial quality inspections on materials and finished parts, using precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
-
Capable of maintaining a consistent high-quality level of deburr and visual inspection.
-
Capable of performing basic shop math for calculating dimensions.
-
Download CNC programs, set up/cut fixtures and tooling on machines, and set tool offsets. Dial in part for a first part buy-off. Follow all shop paperwork, processes and best practices.

Read and interpret work order steps, blueprints, and specifications to understand the requirements for each job.
-
Load raw materials and finished parts into machines (up to 50lbs).
-
Maintain logs of production and quality data as required. Ex: run sheets and inspection routines.

Keep th Monday-Thursday 5am-3:30pm. Eventually may need to other schedules mentioned in the Work Environment criteria.

Identifying and escalating any operational issues to lead or supervisor.
Level II Machinist Responsibilities
-
Run production parts, independently set-up as ran quick change jobs as well as run 1 parts. Be able to change and dial in new tools, make and understand tool and fixture offset adjustments. This includes preparing fixtures, cutting tooling, selecting and installing tools, and loading and adjusting CNC programs.

Consistently meeting allocated set-up times.
-
Capable of making small edits to CNC programs to correct for slight differences in parts to improve efficiency with leads approval.
-
Perform initial quality inspections on materials and finished parts, using precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
-
Capable of maintaining a consistent high-quality level of deburr and visual inspection.
-
Capable of performing basic shop math for calculating dimensions.
-
Have keen attention to detail to ensure finished parts meet precise specifications and quality standards.
-
Use a range of precision measurement devices, such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, smart scope, CMM, Trimos and they can inspect parts and verify that they meet the required dimensional tolerances.
-

A level II machinist is expected to diagnose and resolve minor machining or tooling issues that may arise during production runs and set-ups.

Maintains an efficiency level of 85% or higher while running production.
Level III Machinist Responsibilities
-
Independently run production parts, including quick-change jobs and one-off components. Proficient in setting up machines, downloading and adjusting CNC programs, and verifying first-part quality.
-
Perform complete setups, including preparing and installing fixtures, cutting and selecting tooling, setting tool offsets, and making necessary tool and fixture offset adjustments. Capable of dialing in new tools and the ability to identify when cutters need replaced.

Execute complex, multi-step setups on advanced CNC equipment, including 3- and 4-axis machines. Ensure alignment with shop documentation, processes, and best practices throughout all machining operations.

Validate programs before a production run and perform/suggest edits to speeds and feeds and canned cycles for optimal efficiency and part accuracy with lead/programming approval.

Perform sophisticated inspections, including first-article inspections on run 1 jobs, using advanced measurement tools and applying a strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Take ownership of the first part runs and ensure they meet all design specifications.
-
Assist in the safe recovery of machinery after a malfunction or error.
-
Provide training and guidance to less experienced machinists (Level I and II) when lead is busy.
-
Effectively communicate and collaborate with leads or manager/supervisor and other production personnel to improve processes.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements

All levels: High School graduate or equivalent.

Trainee: No experience required

Level I: Minimum 1 years of machining experience

Work Environment
-
Noise: Machine shop can often be a loud environment with constant noise from equipment requiring mandatory hearing protection.

Safety hazards: Machinists are exposed to inherent risks from powerful, high-speed equipment, including moving parts and sharp tools. Safety protocols are critical to prevent injuries.

Contaminants: The work involves exposure to airborne particles like metal dust, coolant mist, and chemical fumes, necessitating adequate ventilation and protective measures to minimize health risks.

Protective gear: Personal protective equipment (PPE) is a requirement for safety. This includes safety glasses and hearing protection.

Shift work: Must be flexible to work any of the following shifts: M-Th 5am-3:30pm, M-Th 3:15pm-1:45am, Fri-Sun 5am-6pm, and Fri-Sun 5pm-6am.
Physical Requirements:

Standing: Machinists spend long hours on their feet, operating and monitoring machines on the shop floor.

Lifting: The job often requires lifting and moving heavy parts or raw materials. Some roles may involve moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Manual dexterity: Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination are necessary for manipulating tools, setting up machines, and performing precise measurements.

Repetitive motion: Many tasks, such as loading and unloading workpieces, deburring parts, inspecting parts, are repetitive and can potentially lead to musculoskeletal issues over time.

Precision and vision: Machinists must have excellent close-up vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish colors to accurately read blueprints, inspect finished products, and use measuring instruments.

Stamina: Physical stamina is required for the duration of a shift to perform duties like loading materials, monitoring machinery, and conducting quality control checks.
