Technical Support Specialist

8 hours per day, 220 days per year
Salary: $27.09 - $29.58
DESCRIPTION: The Technical Support Specialist (TSS I) is a service-oriented and self-motivated IT support position. The TSS will work on maintaining and monitoring the computer systems and networks for the Migrant Summer School, with dedicated focus on supporting administration, faculty, and staff with initial program set-up and ongoing daily operations. Tasks include solving complex technical issues, collaborating with end-users across all departments, and acting as the first responder for building-level technical assistance, computer classrooms, and lab operations. Responsibilities include managing technical work orders, communicating ticket status to staff, and interacting positively with students, parents, and the community. Equipment and Software Management: Setup, configure, and perform operational checks on new or reallocated computer hardware, printers, and associated peripherals at the building level; install/reinstall and configure software according to WSD standards; and actively deploy student computer imaging, user/group accounts, and student assessment testing setups. Recommend improvements to technical operations and support district technology goals. Responsible for following Operational Technology Policies and Procedures. Attendance and punctuality are critical for this position. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum A.A. degree in a computer-related discipline or two years of documented experience. A Washington State Patrol Criminal History Information Form, required by RCW 43.43.830. Must hold or have the ability to acquire a valid Washington State driver’s license, possess personal transportation, and have the ability to travel within Washington State. Knowledge and use of computer operating systems and concepts for both Apple Macintosh and Microsoft Windows operating systems. Ability to read and understand manuals for software and hardware applicable to district policies and standards. Ability to work collaboratively with staff and relate well with students and the public in frequent, fast-paced interactions. This position requires the ability to stoop, kneel, bend, turn, and reach; physical exertion to manually move, lift, and carry equipment is required. Ability to work effectively in crowded areas where noise is moderate to high.

220 - 259 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 3 personal leave days and 11 holidays.
260 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 12 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays and 12 vacation days.
Tuition reimbursement, 50% up to $450 per year for qualified expenses.
