Accounting Instructor

Wenatchee Valley College is seeking an adjunct instructor to join its Business and Accounting program. This position will teach Practical Accounting I and II, Payroll Accounting, and Computerized Accounting beginning in fall quarter of 2026. The successful candidate will teach a combination of in-person and online classes.
Technical accounting courses are an important component in WVC’s Associate of Applied Science degree in Accounting. This is a two-year, professional technical degree for students seeking entry-level bookkeeping and accounting positions and for students already employed in the field that are interested in upgrading their skills.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare or modify course content including syllabi, presentations and lessons, in accordance with college course outlines.
- Provide appropriately challenging instruction for assigned courses using varying modalities, including preparation for educational activities, evaluation of students’ work, and consultations with students to help them realize their full potential as learners.
- Maintain accurate class and other records required by the college.
- Give timely feedback and progress reports to students during the quarter and submit final grades at the end of the quarter.
- Ensure timely student communication.
- Maintain office hours.
- Work cooperatively within the department and college community and attend department chair meetings.
- Foster a positive working environment that is free from harassment, prejudice and/or bias, and demonstrate a respect for the dignity of everyone.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or a related field.
- Five years of successful professional experience in the field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Successful experience teaching, especially at the college level.
- Experience utilizing a Learning Management System, such as Canvas.
- A demonstrated commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusiveness in an educational environment.
We are looking for enthusiastic instructors who set high expectations but are eager to help students meet those expectations.
Interviews may include a teaching demonstration on a topic selected by the interview committee.
Pay
The pay for classes depends on the number of credits and instructional mode (lab, lecture or a combination).
- In general, each lecture credit is one hour a week and paid at $121.90 per hour. For example, if the class was five credits, it would meet five hours per week and be paid at 55 hours for the quarter and the salary would be approximately $6704.
- Each lab credit is two hours and paid at $60.95 per hour. Therefore, if the class was a three-credit lab, it would meet six hours per week a be paid at 66 hours for the quarter and the pay would be approximately $4022.
