Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Shelter Support Worker to join our team in providing essential services to individuals experiencing homelessness and underserved communities. Duties
- Provide direct support to residents, including intake assessments, crisis intervention, and ongoing case management to meet their individual needs.
- Assist with behavioral health support, conflict resolution, and de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe environment for residents and staff.
- Supervise daily activities within the shelter, ensuring adherence to safety protocols such as manual handling, security procedures, and resident confidentiality.
- Support residents with childcare, working with youth and families to promote stability and well-being.
- Maintain accurate documentation through data entry, filing, data collection, and writing detailed reports on resident progress and incidents.
- Administer medications following proper protocols when required and assist with basic first aid or CPR in emergency situations.
- Collaborate effectively with culturally diverse communities and coordinate services related to programs and home & community care initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proven supervising experience in social services or shelter settings.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with residents from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, mental health conditions, or high-risk populations.
- Knowledge of behavioral health principles, conflict management strategies, crisis intervention techniques, and de-escalation methods.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications for data entry, reporting, and record keeping.
- Manual handling training preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teams supporting underserved communities while maintaining resident confidentiality.
- Experience working with families, youth, or individuals from culturally diverse communities is highly valued.

Pay: $16.00 - $23.00 per hour
