Summary: Utilizes a diagnostic ultrasound machine to obtain the required two dimensional and M-mode views of the cardiac anatomy. Measures the views that have been taken and puts results on paper for the physician to read by performing the following duties. Responsibilities:
50%* Operates the cardiac diagnostic ultrasound machine to obtain the required views. These include: two-dimensional mode, including parasternal long axis view, the parasternal short axis view, the apical four chamber view, sub-costal views and suprasternal views.
25%* Performs color-flows and pulsed wave doppler testing.
25%* Performs holter monitoring set up and preferably scanning.

Education: Associates Degree required.
Equivalent Experience: Graduate of a Radiological Technology or Ultrasound Technology program approved by the American Medical Association. Valid state credentials, when applicable.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs EKG's when necessary.
Assists with cardiac stress testing, when necessary, either by running the stress equipment or taking blood pressures.
Performs other duties within cardiopulmonary services as qualified.
Follows policies and procedures for infection control and facility safety in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
Presents oneself well-groomed and professional to staff and Medical Center personnel.
Participates in facility Quality Improvement/IOP programs as determined by supervisor.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing must be done as required. Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must also be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
