1. Know and comply with the company’s safety rules, policies and OSHA regulations including injury/incident/near miss reporting procedures. Bring problems to attention of Foreman, Supervisor, Superintendent, Safety Director, or Human Resource Manager.
2. Model safe work practices including wearing personal protective equipment, safety belts and safe operating procedures. Firmly enforce all safety policies and take corrective action as needed.
3. Work with Safety Director to ensure jobs have safe working conditions and that safe work practices are in place.
4. Conduct weekly “Tool Box Talks” on assigned subjects and more often if a need arises.
5. Regularly communicate with maintenance staff about repair and maintenance needed on all pieces of equipment on assigned jobs. Tag out any unsafe equipment and get it to the shop as soon as practical.
6. Maintain a clean jobsite. Properly planned cleanup operations are to be executed at least daily so that safety, quality and customer satisfaction can be maximized.
7. Nails on forms are bent over or pulled out and picked up.
8. Concrete is cleaned off daily from forms, wheelbarrows, screeds and paving equipment as they are used.
9. Materials and Equipment no longer needed are removed from the job site as soon as possible.
10. When the job is complete, all clean up must be done before moving to another job.
11. Final cleanup leaves the job site in as good or better condition than it was when work started.
12. Quality Control Program must be understood and followed without exception.
13. Coordinate, direct and lead workers on a particular crew engaged in paving and/or construction activities. Assign work to employees making best use of workers abilities and materials, tools and equipment.
14. Supervise crews using leadership styles based on our core values & vision to ensure correct methods of construction are employed with strict adherence to safety rules/regulations and to obtain top quality workmanship.
15. Proper planning is put in place to avoid unnecessary return trips to the yard for forgotten materials, safety equipment, fuel, tools, and to ensure the optimal number of people is on the job site.
16. Ensure there is enough poly at job site to cover surface of pour and adjacent uphill slabs.
17. Complete daily paperwork and daily job expense sheets completely and accurately. Submit no later than each Friday or the day a project is completed.
18. Observe each team member so as to be able to recognize when coaching is necessary to prevent problems from escalating and promote continuous improvement. Annual coaching sessions for all team members must be completed during the month of June. If a coaching session is needed, it may be prudent to enlist the help of supervisor and/or HR Manager.
19. Develop a ‘lead person’ to be in charge when crews split. Notify this person before leaving the site.
20. Relate to the public and to customers, engineers, architects and other visitors in a professional, courteous and respectful manner, appropriately responding to their complaints, requests or comments.
21. Monitor tools and equipment to ensure they are well kept and properly maintained. If damaged, get replacement tools/equipment. Enlist supervisor or shop as needed.
22. All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
