Job Summary:
Manages and supervises library operations and staff to achieve goals within available resources. Builds connections with the community to provide programs and develop appropriate services.
Minimum Qualifications / Education:
· Bachelor’s degree required
· Five years of responsible experience in library operations including two years in supervisor capacity, or
· Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities:
· Manages and supervises library operations to achieve goals utilizing available resources.
· Writes policies and procedures to ensure the smooth running of the library.
· Communicates policies and procedures to the board, staff, and the public.
· Issues written and oral instructions, assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
· Plans and organizes workloads for staff and volunteers. Reviews progress and directs changes as needed.
· Assign volunteers to be directed by staff as needed.
· Creates schedules and approves time sheets.
· Assist staff in performing duties as needed.
· Maintain harmony among employees and resolves grievances.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Gathers and prepares data for reports and recommendations to the Washington County Library System, Arkansas State Library system. West Fork City Council, and West Fork Library Board.
· Attends Quarterly meetings of the West Fork Library Board, WCLS Board, and attends monthly meetings of both West Fork City Council and department head meetings.
· Provides leadership and direction development of short- and long-range library plans, gathers, interprets and prepares data for studies, reports, and recommendations.
· Coordinates department activities with other departments and agencies as needed.
· Assures that assigned areas of responsibility are performed within budget. Performs cost control activities, monitors revenues and expenditures in assigned area to assure fiscal control, prepares annual budget requests, assures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, material, facilities, and time.
· Maintains daily, weekly and monthly finances of the library including but not limited to the deposit of library funds from fines, sales of items, etc.
· Reviews and approves all invoices and receipts.
· Prepares a variety of studies, reports, and related information for decision-making purposes.
· Oversees the selection, organization, and general collection of books and other items contained in the library. Reviews major selection tools, approves library purchases, reviews books and periodicals and coordinates the removal of outdated or unused materials.
· Coordinates library development and fundraising, solicits and accepts gifts for the library.
· Assures that library facilities and equipment are maintained properly and coordinates maintenance and repairs with the city.
· Coordinates the library programs with other city department programs and outside organizations’ programs such as the school district.
· Performs a variety of miscellaneous tasks such as answering phone inquiries, running errands to the post office, picking up supplies, planning for use of the library facilities, setting up for program etc.
Physical Demands:
· Frequent walking, standing, and strength to hold books and other materials.
· Ability to stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach, push, and pull.
· Strength to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 lb.
· Auditory and visual acuity required for accuracy.
Work Environment:
· This position requires presence at the library, acting as the public face of the library and creating a culture of community.

Pay: $34,000.00 - $73,800.00 per year
