Full Job Description

Overview
Join Primary Care Sports Medicine as an X-Ray Technician / Medical Assistant and play an important role in helping our clinic deliver excellent patient care every day. This is a hands-on position for someone who is dependable, patient-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient setting. You will support both clinical flow and imaging needs while helping create a positive, efficient experience for patients and providers.

We are looking for someone who can help create a smooth, positive experience for patients from the moment they arrive while also supporting clinical flow and imaging needs throughout the day.

Duties

Perform ordered x-rays accurately and safely, following all applicable protocols and licensure requirements
Prepare patients for visits by taking vital signs, updating medical history, and documenting current concerns
Assist providers with patient flow and routine clinical support in an outpatient sports medicine setting
Explain basic processes to patients and help them feel comfortable throughout the visit
Document patient information, imaging, and clinical support tasks accurately in the EHR
Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, imaging areas, and equipment
Follow all safety, infection control, privacy, and workplace policies
Support front and back office workflow as needed to help the clinic run smoothly
Complete other duties as assigned by leadership

Skills and Qualifications

Active California Limited Permit X-Ray License required
Medical Assistant experience or training preferred
Prior experience in an outpatient clinic, orthopedic, sports medicine, or urgent care setting preferred
Strong understanding of medical terminology and patient intake processes
Comfortable taking vital signs, HPI, and supporting routine clinical workflows
Experience with EHR systems preferred
Excellent communication skills and a strong patient service mindset
Ability to stay organized, move efficiently, and maintain attention to detail in a busy clinic
BLS Certification preferred
Certified Medical Assistant preferred

What You’ll Do

Prepare patients for examination by collecting basic clinical information, taking vital signs, and helping them feel comfortable and informed
Perform ordered x-rays, including diagnostic and non-diagnostic imaging, in accordance with license requirements and safety standards
Position patients properly and operate x-ray equipment safely and accurately
Maintain exam rooms and imaging areas so they are clean, organized, and ready for patient care
Clean, inspect, and support routine readiness of clinical and imaging equipment
Assist with patient flow to help keep the schedule running on time
Provide excellent customer service in person and over the phone
Answer basic patient questions and support scheduling or coordination needs as directed
Document accurately in the EMR and communicate clearly with providers and team members
Complete assigned tasks and support other front or back office needs as requested by leadership
Follow all clinical, safety, privacy, and workplace policies

What We’re Looking For

Active Limited Permit CA X-Ray License required
Medical Assistant experience or training strongly preferred
Prior experience in a medical office or outpatient clinic preferred
Comfortable taking vital signs and preparing patients for care
Strong communication skills and a calm, professional bedside manner
Ability to stay organized and work efficiently in a busy practice
Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to jump in where needed
Familiarity with EMR systems preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 is helpful, but not required
BLS Certification preferred
Certified Medical Assistant preferred
