Full Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team and drive the success of our commercial construction projects. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, and collaborating closely with clients, project managers, and subcontractors. Your expertise will help ensure projects are competitively priced while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to diverse construction initiatives and grow within a forward-thinking organization committed to excellence in the construction industry.

Duties

Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately interpret project requirements and material needs.
Develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services using estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar tools.
Utilize Bluebeam and other construction management software to analyze plans, generate takeoffs, and prepare bid proposals.
Manage project budgets by estimating costs, controlling expenses, and ensuring adherence to financial targets throughout the project lifecycle.
Conduct negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing while fostering strong professional relationships.
Prepare comprehensive spreadsheets for cost analysis, material requirements, and project scheduling to facilitate clear communication with clients and internal teams.
Review contracts, change orders, and scope modifications to update estimates accordingly and maintain accurate project documentation.
Collaborate with project managers on site visits to gather real-time insights that influence accurate estimation and cost control strategies.

Requirements

Proven experience in construction estimating for commercial projects within the construction industry.
Strong proficiency with estimating software such as HeavyBid, Xactimate, or equivalent platforms; experience with Bluebeam is highly desirable.
Excellent blueprint reading skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings and construction plans accurately.
Solid understanding of construction management software, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel), and cost management tools.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Effective negotiation skills paired with excellent client communication abilities to foster positive relationships.
Knowledge of material cost estimating, pricing strategies, and estimating material requirements from blueprints.
Construction site experience combined with a background in managing projects as a construction estimator is preferred.
Familiarity with contracts, project management principles, and construction site safety standards is advantageous.
