SUMMARY
Responsible for picking up food donations and delivering food in 12 Northeast Parishes.
This position provides excellent customer to community partners, volunteers, donors and other team members. Accurately picks orders of food products, loads agencies with order pick-ups, accepts community food donations and maintains high standards of warehouse sanitation and safety. Can receive product for the Food Bank, ensuring accuracy and proper paperwork is completed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is not all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
- Ensures that product delivered or donated product that is picked up is appropriately, efficiently and safely transported using safe food handling regulations/policies
- Loads orders on truck for delivery and assures that outgoing orders are complete and accurate based on the paperwork
- Completes pre-trip inspection of fleet vehicle and equipment to ascertain condition, needed changes and/or repairs that are necessary or required are reported to supervisor ensuring that trucks and equipment are properly maintained
- Provides superior customer service while accepting product from donors and delivering food to partners and mobile distribution sites
- Assists with accurately assembling agency orders, utilizing assigned pick lists and referring to product location, inner packing and description
- Ensures the product is properly placed on a pallet and correctly marked indicating the agency name and pick-up/delivery information
- Stages picked product in appropriate holding areas and brings to the vehicle of the agency or volunteer for pick-up orders
- Assists in ensuring accurate inventory through cycle counting, monthly and year-end inventory
- Maintains required job knowledge and skills and core professional competencies. Attends and participates in required educational programs and staff meetings
- Maintain high standards of warehouse sanitation and safety at all times. Ensures that empty pallets and production packaging are removed from aisle ways, coolers and freezers
- Completes cleaning tasks for the warehouse areas and other building areas, as scheduled or necessary, to maintain the highest level of cleanliness and pest control in the facility.
- Immediately reports to supervisor any damaged property, equipment and/or repairs that are necessary or required, ensuring that facility and equipment is properly maintained and safe
- Removes dangerous conditions prior to an accident or injury occurring (i.e., water spill clean-up, etc.)
- Models the organization’s values and promotes a healthy and positive work environment
- Maintains positive relationships with food manufactures, produce growers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers as needed to nurture relationships and increase donations to the Food Bank
- Maintain unencumbered drivers license and CDL; upholding safe driving practices and free from chargeable accidents and/or moving traffic violations
- Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. CDL driving experience and offloading onto a lift gate highly desirable. Experience in warehouse procedures and skills operating warehouse equipment is highly desirable; any combination of educational and work experience that would be equivalent to the minimum requirements.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondences and emails.
Ability to speak and write the English language in an understandable and effective manner.
Solid customer service skills
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS & REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to calculate figures using addition, subtraction, division, multiplication and other basic mathematic skills.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding and interpret instructions in written or oral form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
CDL, Forklift Certification
Maintain unencumbered driver’s license; upholding safe driving practices and free from chargeable accidents and/or moving traffic violations.
