Performs specialized work in Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) utilizing computer resources. Prepares signal and lighting plans for County traffic operations and external contractors utilizing CADD; prepares in-house/contractor-installed signal/lighting plans, as-builts, pavement markings, and signing/geometric plans. Processes basic Geographic Information System (GIS) analyses; prepares and assembles detailed maps and graphic presentations; troubleshoots problems and performs daily maintenance. Work is performed under the supervision of a professional engineer and is reviewed for accuracy, technical knowledge, and achievement of desired results.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:
- Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification supplemented by 30-semester hours of college-level, computer-related coursework OR one (1) year of a technical/vocational computer-related training; minimum of one (1) year of experience with computer applications such as CADD or GIS,
OR
- An Associate’s/Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, or closely related field,
OR
- An unrelated Associate’s/Bachelor’s Degree; minimum of six (6) months of experience with computer applications such as CADD or GIS,
OR
- Graduation from high school/equivalent, minimum of two (2) years of experience with computer applications such as CADD or GIS.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience with principles and practices of land surveying/mapping or civil/traffic engineering (must specify on application),
- Experience preparing or reviewing signal/lighting/pavement marking plans or as-builts,
- Experience with utility coordination, and
- Experience using MicroStation/AutoCAD/ArcGIS/MS Access.
