Education

High School Graduate or Equivalent

Experience / Qualifications

At least 1 year of experience
Basic Rhythm Strip interpretation exam with a pass score of 80% or higher.
BLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers.

Position Summary

The Monitor Technician is a member of the nursing team who interprets cardiac monitor data, working under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

Provides continuous cardiac monitoring, observation, and documentation of cardiac rhythm on a routine basis. The Monitor Tech communicates changes in the cardiac rhythm to the charge nurse and primary nurse.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. The team member will need to frequently assist lifting patients and heavy equipment. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, making sound decisions, detail oriented, alert, and self-motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs, carry and lift up to 50lbs.

Threshold Requirements

These threshold requirements are required and completed yearly basis.
- Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation.
- TB/PPD Surveillance Program
- Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).
