Full Job Description

Job Summary

The Retina Group of Florida is seeing an experienced Revenue Cycle Manager! The Revenue Cycle Manager oversees the full revenue cycle for a multi-location ophthalmology practice. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate registration, eligibility verification, authorizations, coding support, claims submission, payment posting, denial management, accounts receivable follow-up, patient collections, and regulatory compliance. The Revenue Cycle Manager partners closely with clinical teams, front desk operations, billing staff, finance, and practice leadership to improve cash flow, reduce denials, protect revenue integrity, and support a consistent patient financial experience across all locations.

Key Responsibilities

Manage revenue cycle performance across all practice locations, ensuring consistent workflows, accountability, and communication between physicians, clinical teams, front desk staff, billing, and leadership.
Oversee the complete revenue cycle from appointment scheduling and patient registration through final payment collection and account resolution.
Ensure accurate and timely billing and reimbursement for Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, commercial insurance, vision plans, workers’ compensation, and patient-responsibility balances.
Support ophthalmology-specific billing workflows, including office visits, diagnostic testing, injections, surgical procedures, optical-related charges when applicable, and physician documentation requirements.
Monitor prior authorization, referral, eligibility, and benefits-verification processes to reduce claim delays and improve point-of-service collections.
Monitor and manage accounts receivable to achieve collection goals.
Review and analyze Accounts Receivable (AR) reports regularly to monitor outstanding balances and collection performance.
Identify trends, patterns, and root causes impacting cash flow, reimbursement, denial rates, and aging receivables.
Monitor aging reports and prioritize follow-up on high-dollar, overdue, and at-risk accounts.
Analyze denial trends, payment delays, write-offs, and underpayments and implement corrective actions.
Develop and present AR performance reports, dashboards, and KPIs to leadership.
Collaborate with practice administrators, front office teams, technicians, scribes, surgical coordinators, clinical leadership, finance, and operational teams to resolve reimbursement issues and improve revenue cycle outcomes.
Recommend and implement process improvements based on revenue cycle performance data.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, payer requirements, ophthalmology coding guidelines, documentation standards, and other applicable healthcare regulations.
Supervise, coach, and develop revenue cycle, billing, collections, and patient financial services staff across the practice.
Standardize workflows, training, and performance expectations across locations to support consistent billing accuracy, timely follow-up, and strong patient service.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
Minimum 5 years of healthcare revenue cycle experience, with ophthalmology, retina, optometry, ambulatory surgery, or physician-practice experience strongly preferred.
Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, commercial insurance, vision plans, prior authorizations, referrals, denials, appeals, and patient collections.
Knowledge of ophthalmology coding, documentation, payer policies, modifiers, diagnostic testing, injectable medications, and surgical billing preferred.
Experience managing revenue cycle performance in a multi-physician, multi-location medical practice preferred.
Proficiency with electronic health record systems, practice management systems, billing software, Microsoft Excel, dashboards, reporting tools, and business intelligence platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, and Domo.
Experience developing dashboards, tracking key performance indicators, analyzing revenue cycle trends, and preparing executive-level reports for leadership review.
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Relevant certification such as CRCR, CPC, CPB, or another healthcare revenue cycle or coding credential preferred.
