Full Job Description

Mental Health Facility located in West Palm looking to hire a Lead RN to work under our Nurse Manager for our treatment program in WPB. those s

The Lead RN is responsible for all Nursing related services for each patient and for linking patients to the physicians and to outside medical resources. They participate in the Interdisciplinary Team Meetings when necessary to inform the clinical team about medical issues and are available for emergency medical situations. The Lead RN provides all services under the supervision of the Nurse Manager. The Lead RN is responsible to provide medical & history screens, providing routine nursing care and overseeing the medical and psychiatric management of the patient in coordination with the attending physician. They are also a member of the Treatment Team and provide input into the development of the Master Treatment Plan. The Lead RN also maintains open communication lines with facility staff, attending clinicians and physicians, patients and families. Liaisons with community agencies, vendors, and payor of health services. Day and Night shifts are available.

Responsibilities include:

Assisting the Nurse Manager

Covering for the Nurse Manager as needed

Qualifications and Skills

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION

Completes the following documentation within 24 hours of the patient’s admission to the program:
Admission Note
Nursing Assessment
Pre-Screen Testing
HRS Consent Form
Patient Health Examination
Transcribes Physician’s Orders and Implement all Medical Protocols as ordered
Administers medications
Confers with and assist the Medical Doctor and the Psychiatrist.
Makes appropriate referrals using referral forms
Attends and participate in all “in-service” functions
Assists with emergency situations and make immediate referrals
Provides documentation which reflects services for each patient in accordance with licensure standards
Maintains the Confidential nature of all patients and facility activities
Maintains required Training & Continuing Education
Maintains Standards of Ethical Conduct
Meets with patients requesting to see the doctor to determine the urgency of their medical needs and expedite treatment as required
Effectively communicates concerns about patient health to the Medical Director and follows up as necessary
Under the supervision of the Medical Director and Director of Nursing, assists in educating patients about health problems and medical care
Facilitates medication education for new patients and for all other patients starting new medications
Meets with therapists to provide information about patient medical problems
Assists the treatment team in incorporating medical issues into treatment planning
Accommodate utilization review needs when additional information is necessary to provide further authorization to insurance carriers, this may be accomplished by scheduling clients to be evaluated by the Physician’s Assistant or Medical Director simply by communicating directly with a care manager
Scheduling routine laboratory examinations or those ordered by the Medical Director
Takes verbal orders from the Medical Director, documents them in the patient record and carries them out accurately and professionally
Provides routine nursing care under the supervision of the Medical Director and Head Nurse
Participate in regular meetings with Clinical Director to discuss specific patient problems
Facilitate Medical Groups as directed by Head Nurse
Participate in regular department meetings and staff meetings
Encourage efficient utilization of supplies and equipment to prevent waste.
Maintains effective communication between outside medical services and the facility
Keeps and shares records and equipment
Interacts with clients with compassion and respect
Attends in-service education programs as assigned to learn new forms, procedures, developmental skills, etc.
Has good work habits: get things done in a timely, efficient manner with no excessive absences; is on time for scheduled shifts and prepared to begin work
Functions well as a team member and contribute positively to the morale of staff
Performs additional duties, as deemed necessary by supervisor
Maintains up-to-date training in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention, Infection Control, Fire Safety, and other areas mandated by organizational policies
Communicates effectively with other staff members and demonstrates the ability to work as a team member
Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability, responding positively to changing situations in the work setting
Demonstrates objectivity and maturity under stress
Accepts and utilizes supervision
Addresses problems noted by supervisor
Performs other assignments as requested by supervisor
Demonstrates willingness to accept responsibility
Completes all tasks with concern for work quality
Other duties as assigned
