Job Description: E-Commerce & Inside Sales Coordinator

About Valley Malt

Valley Malt is a woman-owned, vertically integrated grain company in Holyoke, Massachusetts, connecting Northeast farms to Northeast eaters through malting and stone- and roller-milling. Our Ground Up and Coastal Queen brands bring regionally grown, freshly milled flours to home bakers, retailers, restaurants, bakeries, and institutions across the Northeast.

Position Summary

We're hiring an organized, customer-focused team member to own two connected areas: our online stores and order fulfillment, and our inside sales and customer service. You'll make sure every online flour order is packed and shipped accurately and on time, keep our e-commerce platforms running smoothly, and be the friendly, reliable point of contact for our wholesale and delivery-route customers. It's a hands-on, varied role that blends order fulfillment and packaging, software/order processing, and relationship-driven sales support.

Key Responsibilities

E-Commerce & Order Fulfillment

· Fulfill online flour orders for Ground Up and Coastal Queen — picking, packing, and preparing orders accurately.

· Ship orders via UPS and USPS and coordinate local customer pick-ups.

· Manage day-to-day operations of our online sales platforms: Shopify, WooCommerce, and Faire (order processing, listings, inventory, and status updates).

· Assist online customers with questions, order changes, and complaints, and resolve issues promptly and professionally.

· Keep shipping supplies stocked and the fulfillment area clean and organized, following GMP and food-safety practices.

Inside Sales & Customer Service

· Email delivery-route customers weekly with the van delivery schedule and take their orders.

· Monitor and respond to incoming order and customer-service emails in a timely, helpful manner.

· Enter and process orders through QuickBooks and FoodReady software, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.

· Support the sales pipeline — onboarding new accounts, following up on inquiries, and helping retain and grow existing customers.

· Communicate order, inventory, or scheduling issues to the production and delivery team.

Qualifications & Skills

· Experience with e-commerce platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce, and/or Faire) and shipping tools (UPS/USPS).

· Comfort with QuickBooks and order/inventory software (FoodReady experience a plus; willingness to learn required).

· Strong written communication and a warm, professional customer-service manner.

· Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable, with the ability to juggle fulfillment deadlines and customer requests.

· Self-motivated and trustworthy enough to work some hours from home.

· Food-manufacturing, GMP, or food-safety awareness a plus.

Physical Requirements

· Able to lift and move flour bags and cases (up to ~50 lb) and stand, bend, and pack for periods during fulfillment.

· Comfortable working in a food-production/warehouse environment.

Schedule, Location & Compensation

Full-time, Monday–Friday, based at our Holyoke, MA facility, with some flexibility in hours and the possibility of some work from home. Compensation: $24-27 (commensurate with experience). Benefits: PTO, Health Insurance and free flour.
