Job Title: Sr. Planner/Scheduler
Location: Clarksburg, West Virginia 26301
Pay: $75–$80/hour
Per Diem: $150/day
Duration: 7 months
Work Schedule: 50+ hours per week
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior Planner/Scheduler to support construction of a large single-shaft combined cycle power generation project. This is a field-focused role responsible for developing, maintaining, analyzing, and driving the project schedule while working closely with project leadership, the construction JV, and subcontractors.
The project is currently focused on completing underground infrastructure and major foundations, including concrete, underground duct banks, and underground piping. Future phases will include installation of major centerline equipment, HRSG, Air-Cooled Condenser (ACC), Generator Step-Up Transformers (GSUs), and other balance-of-plant equipment.
The ideal candidate is a senior-level scheduler who is comfortable working directly with field teams and subcontractors. This person must be willing to challenge schedules, identify slippage early, push for recovery plans, and hold contractors accountable for commitments.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update the detailed project construction schedule.
- Monitor progress against baseline and contractual milestone dates.
- Work closely with project management, construction management, the JV contractor, and subcontractors to validate progress.
- Maintain a strong field presence to verify actual construction status.
- Track concrete, foundations, underground duct banks, underground piping, and other early civil activities.
- Develop and maintain schedule logic for upcoming major equipment installation and construction activities.
- Integrate delivery and installation milestones for major power generation equipment, HRSG, ACC, GSUs, and ancillary equipment.
- Identify schedule delays, constraints, critical-path impacts, and emerging risks.
- Challenge subcontractor schedules and manpower plans when progress does not support required completion dates.
- Drive subcontractors to meet commitments and establish recovery plans when activities fall behind.
- Lead schedule review and progress meetings with contractors and project leadership.
- Perform look-ahead planning and communicate upcoming priorities, constraints, and required actions.
- Analyze schedule performance, productivity, sequencing, and contractor execution.
- Prepare schedule reports, progress updates, critical-path analysis, and management-level reporting.
- Coordinate construction sequencing with engineering, procurement, equipment deliveries, startup, and commissioning activities.
Qualifications
- Extensive planning and scheduling experience on large industrial or power generation construction projects.
- Strong experience with combined cycle, simple cycle, power plant, or similarly complex heavy industrial construction.
- Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, schedule logic, critical path methodology, and field productivity.
- Experience scheduling civil, concrete, underground utilities, foundations, mechanical, electrical, and major equipment installation.
- Ability to independently assess contractor progress rather than relying solely on contractor-reported updates.
- Proven ability to challenge contractors, drive action items, and hold project teams accountable.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with project managers, construction managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and JV partners.
- Must be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, field-oriented construction environment.
