Shrewsbury Public SchoolsPosted: July 27, 2026 Closed: August 3, 2026Employment Opportunity: District-Central OfficePOSITION: Communications CoordinatorPosition Available: Immediately Shrewsbury Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a Communications Coordinator for the District Office. This is a full year-round position with paid sick, personal, and vacation time, and includes health and other insurance options. This is a Town Retirement-eligible position. Position SummaryShrewsbury Public Schools seeks an innovative and collaborative Communications Coordinator to lead the district's communications, community engagement, and public information efforts. Reporting directly to the Superintendent, the Communications Coordinator develops and implements strategic internal and external communications that promote transparency, strengthen community trust, and celebrate the achievements of students and staff.The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer, storyteller, and relationship builder who can manage multiple priorities while supporting district leadership through clear, timely, and engaging communications.Primary Responsibilities1. Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, newsletters, website content, and other communications for families, staff, and the community.2. Manage the district website, ensuring content quality, accessibility, and timely updates.3.

Develop and manage the districts social media presence, creating engaging content that highlights student learning, staff accomplishments, and district initiatives.4. Serve as the districts primary media contact and coordinate routine media inquiries and interviews.5. Develop and maintain district branding standards across print and digitalcommunications.6. Coordinate production of the district's Annual Report, Shrewsbury School Journal (three per year), and other major publications.7.

Coordinate community engagement initiatives, special events, and public outreach efforts, and production of the weekly electronic Community Bulletin.8. Monitor website, social media, and communications analytics and recommendimprovements to increase engagement.9. Implement district communications priorities established by the Superintendent andrecommend opportunities to enhance internal and external communications.10. Serve as the District's Records Access Officer by coordinating responses to public records requests in collaboration with district administration and legal counsel, ensuring compliance with the Massachusetts Public Records Law and all applicable legal requirements.11.

Coordinate with the Town of Shrewsbury on behalf of the Superintendent on the Annual Town Report.12. Provide administrative support to the Assistant Superintendent of Well-Being and Community Systems, averaging approximately 510 hours per week, including managing communications, preparing materials, and supporting department initiatives as needed.QualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field.Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.Experience managing websites, social media platforms, and digital communications.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.Ability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.PreferredExperience in public education or municipal government.Experience with crisis communications and media relations.Knowledge of website accessibility standards and digital communication best practices.Bilingual or multilingual skills.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesOutstanding written and verbal communication skills.Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.Excellent judgment, discretion, and attention to detail.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, website content management systems, and social media platforms.
