Job Description
Lead Carpenters are essential to the production team of DeWitt Construction. All Lead Carpenters are directly responsible for the quality, timeliness, and efficiency of the production team. It is the Lead Carpenter's duty to ensure that each project is completed on time and on budget. This position is on the "front line" in achieving our company goals of superior product, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform carpentry tasks with the highest quality of craftsmanship in a timely manner.
- Keep informed of the entire project scope including revisions, change orders or changes to the scope of work and the schedule.
- Lead a team of carpenters to perform building and remodeling tasks, provide guidance and support as needed.
- Responsible for the production of projects in accordance with the plans and specifications.
- Interpret blueprints and schematics to execute construction plans accurately.
- Responsible for jobsite safety, cleanliness, security and protection from the elements.
- Ensure a first aid kit is on site at all times.
- Be able to problem solve without the immediate direction from Managers or Supervisors.
- Hold themselves and all carpenters under their direction accountable for their work performance, actions, and appearance.
- Always act in a manner as to represent the principles of DeWitt Construction.
Multiple project locations – Home daily
Qualifications
Applicants should have at least six years of carpentry experience and have a thorough understanding of rough, finish carpentry, and knowledge of all trades associated with home building and remodeling. The position requires the ability and willingness to work in a team and a willingness to interact with other DeWitt Construction employees and clients. Strong written and oral communication skills are vital. All candidates must have a valid driver's license in good standing and reliable transportation to and from work. Company vehicles will be provided for transportation to and from job sites.
