Full Job Description

As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to ensure the efficient operation of a busy Endocrinology office. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality, and in a timely manner.

This position is based in our Great Neck office. Phlebotomy certification is required.

Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 5 days/week. Daily hours vary based on office needs. Most weeks include 2 longer shifts (up to 10 hours) to cover patient volume.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Greet patients and visitors in a professional, friendly manner.
Interview patients to obtain and document medical history, and current medications.
Room patients efficiently, ensuring visits stay on schedule throughout the day.
Take and record vital signs, including height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse.
Perform phlebotomy and process lab specimens according to office protocol.
Perform ABI (ankle-brachial index) testing and other diagnostic testing as directed.
Assist physicians during examinations and procedures, preparing patients and equipment as needed.
Accurately document physician instructions in the EMR system, including patient vitals
Prepare, clean, and stock treatment rooms and medical instruments between patient visits, following infection control and safety protocols.
Call in prescriptions and process refill requests as directed by the physician.
Contact insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations for procedures, medications, and testing.
Update and maintain patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Communicate with patients regarding test results, follow-up instructions, and scheduling as directed by the physician.
Coordinate with front desk and billing staff to ensure smooth patient flow and accurate documentation.
Maintain adequate inventory of clinical supplies and notify management of reorder needs.

Skills:

Proven working experience as a Medical Assistant.
Knowledge of EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems.
Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
Socially perceptive and service-oriented.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
EKG and phlebotomy skills are required.

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
