Full Job Description

Our prestigious law firm, calljacob.com a leading provider of personal injurylegal services in California, is seeking a proactive and highly skilled Human Resources Manager to oversee all HR operations for our 150-person firm.

PREVIOUS LAW FIRM EXPERIENCE IS A MAJOR PLUS

YOU MUST HAVE FORMAL TRAINING TO QUALIFY

This position requires a dynamic HR professional with a solid understanding of HR best practices, labor laws, compliance, and the unique needs of a legal environment. The HR Manager will be IN OFFICR and responsible for fostering a positive work culture, ensuring compliance with federal and state labor laws, and managing employee relations, be very experienced in recruiting performance management, benefits, and training.

you must have experience in new employee recruitment. Must know how to recruit high-level and for all positions needed in a law firm

EXPERIENCE IN A LAW FIRM IS A PLUS

Key Responsibilities:

#### 1. **HR Strategy and Leadership:**

- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the firm’s business objectives and values.

- Provide strategic guidance to leadership on HR matters, including employee relations, performance management, compensation, and organizational development.

- Serve as a trusted advisor to partners, managers, and staff on HR-related issues.

#### 2. **Recruitment and Staffing:**

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT

- Lead full-cycle recruitment efforts, from job posting to offer acceptance, ensuring that the firm attracts and hires top talent across all departments.

- Develop and maintain relationships with legal recruiting agencies, universities, and other talent pipelines.

- Oversee onboarding and orientation programs to ensure smooth transitions for new hires.

#### 3. **Employee Relations and Conflict Resolution:**

- Act as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, investigations, and disciplinary actions.

- Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful work environment while managing sensitive issues with discretion and professionalism.

- Address employee concerns, mediate disputes, and ensure compliance with firm policies and California labor laws.

#### 4. **Performance Management:**

- Oversee the performance management process, including setting goals, conducting performance reviews, and providing constructive feedback to employees.

- Work with department heads to ensure that employees are being effectively managed, developed, and motivated to meet performance objectives.

- Implement employee development programs, including training and career growth opportunities.

#### 5. **Compensation and Benefits:**

- Administer the firm’s compensation and benefits programs, including salary structure, bonuses, health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits.

- Evaluate and benchmark compensation packages to ensure competitiveness in the legal industry.

- Advise management on compensation trends, issues, and legal requirements.

#### 6. **Compliance and Legal Requirements:**

- Ensure firm compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations, including wage and hour laws, workers’ compensation, family leave policies, and anti-discrimination laws.

- Maintain knowledge of California-specific employment laws and regulations, including understanding unique challenges for law firms and legal professionals.

- Manage and file all required documentation, including employment records, benefits reporting, and compliance paperwork.

#### 7. **Training and Development:**

- Develop and deliver training programs on topics such as diversity and inclusion, harassment prevention, workplace policies, and leadership development.

- Identify skill gaps within the firm and work with department leaders to create effective training solutions.

- Promote a continuous learning culture by encouraging professional development and certifications.

#### 8. **HR Administration and Reporting:**

- Oversee all HR administrative functions, including employee records, time-off tracking, benefits administration, and HRIS management.

- Generate reports on key HR metrics, such as turnover, employee engagement, diversity, and recruitment progress.

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR technologies and recommend systems or tools that can improve the efficiency of HR operations.

#### 9. **Workplace Culture and Employee Engagement:**

- Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and high performance across all levels of the firm.

- Develop employee engagement initiatives, wellness programs, and social events that contribute to a positive and supportive workplace.

- Assess employee satisfaction and work with leadership to implement improvements.

#### 10. **Health & Safety:**

- Ensure workplace safety compliance, including managing workplace injuries, return-to-work programs, and OSHA-related regulations.

- Develop and implement health and safety protocols in response to ongoing or emerging health risks (e.g., COVID-19).

### Qualifications:

- **Education:**

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.

- **Experience:**

- Minimum of 5-7 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role. Experience in a law firm or professional services environment is highly preferred.

- In-depth knowledge of California labor laws and federal regulations, including specific laws affecting legal professionals.

- **Skills & Abilities:**

- Strong understanding of HR processes, employment law, benefits, and compensation administration.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.

- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

- Proven problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.

- Ability to develop and implement HR policies and procedures in a fast-paced environment.

- Familiarity with HRIS software and the ability to learn new systems quickly.

- Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
