Full Job Description

Serenity Care Health Group is a rapidly growing FQHC-LAL located in the heart of Long Beach, specifically Cambodia Town. We offer comprehensive primary care and mental/behavioral health services to the under-insured and uninsured community members of Long Beach and surrounding areas.

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Referral Coordinator to join our pediatric clinic team. This role is essential in ensuring patients receive timely and accurate specialty care by managing referral processes, coordinating with providers, and supporting families throughout their care journey.

Responsibilities

Manage the referral process by scheduling appointments, obtaining necessary authorizations, and ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
Verify insurance coverage and benefits using managed care protocols to confirm patient eligibility for services.
Maintain comprehensive medical records related to referrals, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality.
Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to facilitate smooth referral workflows.
Utilize medical terminology accurately when documenting referral details and communicating with external entities.
Apply CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards to accurately document diagnoses and procedures associated with referrals.
Assist in insurance verification processes by reviewing coverage details and coordinating necessary pre-authorizations for procedures or specialist visits.

Qualifications

Flexible, willing to work Saturdays/Evenings
Spanish speaking required
Medical Assistant certificate Highly Preferred
2+ years of referrals experience preferred
Back Office experience preferred
Experience working with Pediatrics preferred
Proven experience working in a medical office setting with familiarity in managing referrals and insurance processes.
Knowledge of managed care systems, HIPAA regulations, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding practices.
Prior experience in medical office environments is preferred.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Effective communication skills to liaise confidently with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, EMR systems)
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
