The Pet Resort Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing operations of a full-service pet resort, including dog daycare, boarding, grooming, and training programs s well as a Cattery.
This role ensures exceptional pet care, strong team leadership, efficient operations, and outstanding client satisfaction while managing financial performance and operational standards. The ideal candidate is a compassionate, organized leader with a strong understanding of canine care and service-based business management.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Mentorship
- Collaborate with other managers to ensure best operations of facility programs
- Train, mentor, and manage staff across daycare, boarding, grooming, and training departments
- Foster a positive, professional, and accountable workplace culture
- Create and manage schedules that align staffing levels with occupancy, appointments, and program demand
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development
Daycare, Boarding, Grooming & Training Operations
- Oversee operations of dog daycare and boarding, ensuring safe group play, proper handling, feeding, medication administration, and individualized care
- Manage grooming services, including scheduling, quality control, safety standards, and client communication
- Oversee training programs, ensuring consistency in training philosophy, quality instruction, and positive outcomes for dogs and clients
- Collaborate with department leads (groomers and trainers) to maintain service excellence and efficiency
Pet Care & Safety Standards
- Ensure the highest standards of animal welfare, cleanliness, enrichment, and facility safety
- Monitor dog behavior and intervene appropriately to ensure safe interactions
- Maintain compliance with health regulations, vaccination requirements, and sanitation protocols
Client Relations & Satisfaction
- Build strong relationships with pet parents through transparent communication and exceptional service
- Oversee client onboarding, assessments, and ongoing care plans
- Resolve client concerns professionally and promptly to maintain trust and satisfaction
- Promote services and programs to support retention and growth
Operations & Efficiency
- Manage facility workflows, capacity planning, reservations, and appointment scheduling
- Develop and refine processes to improve efficiency, service quality, and team effectiveness
- Ensure consistent execution of policies and procedures across all departments
Qualifications
- Leadership experience in pet care, hospitality, or service-based operations
- Knowledge of dog behavior, daycare group management, boarding care, grooming operations, and training programs
- Knowledge of best practices in cat care
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Physically able to work in an active, hands-on pet care environment
