Summary:

Performs sonography in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

Responsibilities:

Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes images and identifies issues with the quality of images. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure if clinically appropriate.Takes on call shift responsibilities as required by the department.Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

Education and Certification Requirements:

Accredited Program: Ultrasound Technologist (Required)American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), BLS American Heart E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS American Heart RQI E-Card (BLS AHA-RQI ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS Certification Grace (BLS GRACE) - Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential (GRACE), BLS Cert Red Cross (BLS RC) - Red Cross (RED CROSS), Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)

Additional Job Information:

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Required Work Experience: No prior work experience required.Other Information: Must be registered within one (1) year of starting the position with the ARDMS (AB, OBGYN, RVT, BR, or PS).Additional Education Info: Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist program or possess a foreign diploma recognized by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
