Millwork Drafter

Location: Melville, NY (On-Site)

About the Role

Gilbert is looking for a talented Millwork Drafter to join our engineering team and help transform creative concepts into precision-built reality.

You'll create detailed shop drawings and fabrication packages for luxury retail environments, custom trade show exhibits, and commercial interiors. Working closely with Project Managers, Production, and Engineering, you'll ensure every drawing is accurate, manufacturable, and ready for fabrication.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, working on unique custom projects, and seeing their designs come to life.

Responsibilities

Create detailed millwork shop drawings from architectural plans, sketches, and design concepts.
Produce 2D and 3D CAD drawings for custom millwork, cabinetry, fixtures, and architectural interiors.
Develop CNC-ready part drawings and fabrication layouts.
Create assembly drawings, joinery details, finish schedules, and installation details.
Collaborate with Project Managers, Production Supervisors, and Engineering to resolve design and fabrication issues.
Review drawings for accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with company standards.
Assist in developing engineering solutions for custom fabrication challenges.
Maintain organized project documentation and drawing revisions.
Contribute to the company's CAD library by creating reusable details and standard components.
Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve drafting quality and production efficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Industrial Design, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
3–5 years of drafting experience in custom millwork, cabinetry, architectural woodworking, retail fixtures, or similar industries.
Strong proficiency with AutoCAD 2D and 3D.
Solid understanding of millwork construction methods, materials, hardware, and fabrication techniques.
Experience preparing CNC-ready drawings is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate construction documents.
Excellent mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret architectural and technical drawings.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Pay: $36.66 - $42.10 per hour
