Full Job Description

At Suburban Supply, a Route Manager is responsible for managing an established route of restaurant and hospitality customers.

Each Route Manager is assigned a designated group of accounts and is responsible for:

● Maintaining commercial dish machines

● Performing repairs and preventative maintenance as needed

● Monitoring and placing chemical (soap) orders to prevent customer run-outs

● Maintaining strong customer relationships and ensuring overall satisfaction

This is not a cold-calling sales role. However, Route Managers are compensated with commission because they are responsible for maintaining the account after the initial sale. The quality of service they provide directly impacts customer retention and revenue.

Compensation Structure

● Base Salary: $60,000 ($50,000 base + $10,000 Training Commission)

● Commission: Based on paid chemical (soap) sales within their assigned route

● Training Commission: $10,000 annualized during the training period

During training, employees receive a guaranteed training commission equivalent to $10,000 per year in addition to base salary.

The training period is performance-based, not time-based.

Some employees complete training in one month, others may take up to six months. Training ends when both the manager and the employee feel confident that the individual can independently manage a route.

Importantly, once assigned their own route, even a smaller starter route will generate commission exceeding the training commission amount.

There is no cap on commission.

If someone wants to grow their income and puts in the effort, we want them to be compensated accordingly.

Route Growth & Earning Potential

Route sizes vary. Some Route Managers prefer a smaller route with steady income. Others choose to manage a larger book of business and increase their commission significantly.

Compensation reflects responsibility, someone managing more accounts earns more. This ensures fairness across the team.

While sales calls are not required, some Route Managers who want to increase their income request sales training. Those who bring in new customers earn commission on those sales, whether within their route or outside of it.

Additionally:

● If a Sales Representative sells a machine to a Route Manager’s customer, the machine commission is split.

● This reflects the shared responsibility: the Sales Rep makes the sale, but the Route Manager supports the customer long-term and handles any service issues after installation.

On-Call Responsibilities:

After completing training, Route Managers join the on-call rotation.

● Typically 1 weeknight per week

● One weekend per month at most (in some territories, one weekend every 5 weeks)

This ensures fair distribution of after-hours service needs across the team.

Qualifications:

Maintenance experience preferred, including electrical/mechanical, ie. motors, circuits, pumps, troubleshooting etc.

Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record of at least 3 years, Route Managers operate a company vehicle

Customer service experience preferred especially in the service/restaurant/hospitality sector

Sales experience not required, but helpful
