Full Job Description

CEI Constructors is currently looking for experienced Project Engineer supports the successful execution of heavy civil construction projects through project administration, cost tracking, scheduling, procurement, and documentation. Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and in cooperation with the Superintendent, this position helps ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contact requirements while serving as a key link between the field and office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Inspect project sites to monitor progress and verify compliance with plans, specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Utilize construction management software and technology to prepare and manage project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, detail clarifications, and field sketches.
Assist the Project Manager with contract administration, cost tracking, scheduling updates, and maintaining project records and daily field reports.
Monitor work quality and coordinate with project teams to ensure compliance with contract documents and project requirements.
Maintain effective communication and coordination with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
Support Superintendents and field operations as directed by the Project Manager to help ensure successful project execution.

Safety Duties and Responsibilities

Promote and support compliance with company safety policies, project safety plans, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in safety meetings, site inspections, and hazard identification activities.
Coordinate with project teams to address safety concerns and support a safe work environment.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field preferred.
1-3 years of project engineer experience in construction industry or a similar role.
Familiarity with estimating, cost tracking, and contract administration processes is a plus.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
Experience with Primavera P6, Vista/Viewpoint, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or similar construction software is preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, contracts, schedules, and technical documents.
Knowledge of project management principles, including scheduling, cost control, and project coordination.
Knowledge of public works, prevailing wages, and federally funded project requirements is preferred.

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing project demands.
Commitment to safety and compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Physical Requirements

Work Environment

This position operates in both office and field environments, requiring regular visits to active construction sites. Employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions, construction equipment, vehicle traffic, noise, vibration, and other conditions commonly associated with heavy civil construction projects. Typical workdays range from 8 to 10 hours; however, project demands may occasionally require extended hours, travel, and weekend work.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
