Grand Farm is seeking an Agronomist to serve as the agronomic lead for its 600-acre Innovation Campus near Casselton, North Dakota. The Agronomist will guide agronomic planning and in-season decision making across a variety of field trials and production/rotational acres, serve as an agronomic advisor to internal teams and external partners, and provide project management for assigned projects, programs, and field trials. This role combines hands-on agronomic expertise with the coordination and communication skills needed to deliver projects in a fast-moving innovation environment.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Agronomic Planning and Advising
- Develop and maintain the annual agronomic plan for the Innovation Campus, including crop rotation, fertility, and integrated weed, pest, and disease management in conjunction with Field Operations
- Provide in-season agronomic recommendations, scouting, and crop staging across trial plots and rotational acres
- Serve as the agronomic advisor to internal teams, technology partners, and research collaborators across Grand Farm projects and programs
- Advise on trial design, protocols, and site selection alongside researchers, technology partners, and the field operations team
Field Trial and Research Support
- Support execution of partner field trials and federal research programs, ensuring agronomic integrity and protocol adherence
- Collect, review, and validate agronomic field data, including weed, pest, disease, and crop injury ratings
- Serve as the agronomic subject matter expert for internal teams and external partners
Project Management and Coordination
- Plan, coordinate, and manage assigned projects, programs, and field trials through their full lifecycle within Grand Farm's project management framework
- Develop and communicate project scopes, schedules, and deliverables with internal and external stakeholders
- Coordinate internal teams, partners, vendors, and resources to fulfill project commitments
- Maintain project documentation, records, and status reporting
- Perform other project management related duties as assigned
Compliance and Recordkeeping
- Maintain accurate agronomic and chemical application records in compliance with established protocols and regulations
- Support project, partner, and grant reporting requirements
Collaboration and Engagement
- Work closely with the field operations team, project managers, and researchers to execute the growing season plan
- Conduct field tours during events and communicate agronomic findings to technical and non-technical audiences

Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, and related software
- Valid driver's license
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in agronomy, crop science, plant science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
- 3+ years of experience in production agriculture, agronomic consulting, or agricultural field research
- Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) certification preferred, or ability to obtain
- Experience in designing or supporting agricultural field trials preferred
- Experience coordinating or managing projects, budgets, or cross-functional teams preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to continuously stand or walk during events
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and operating equipment
- Comfortable working in various indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to inclement weather conditions
- Capable of occasionally lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- These physical requirements must be met with or without accommodation
Work Environment
- Flexible, dynamic work environment with primary locations in Fargo, ND and the Innovation Campus in Casselton, ND
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours, including evenings or weekends, to meet project or partner needs
- May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces
- May occasionally climb ladders and work off elevated surfaces
- May occasionally work outdoors with temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
- Noise level in the work environment is frequently loud
