Full Job Description

Network / Server / Desktop – Network Support Engineer (Elgin)

We are an IT / MSP Support Company and a Wireless Internet Provider located in Downtown Elgin providing IT support for small and mid-sized businesses in the surrounding areas for over 20 years. We are currently seeking a Network and Helpdesk Support person to grow our team and support our customers.

99% of our environments are Windows & Cloud based with some Apple devices in the mix. You will mostly work with Windows Server, Active Directory, MS 365, Azure, Routers, Switches, VPNs, troubleshoot PC hardware and software issues and work directly with users.

This is the perfect position for someone who likes to be on the move and wear multiple hats. You will be doing Help Desk, Onsite Support, working with multiple customers and different users on a day-to-day basis.

It is a relaxed team environment; however, you are required to be responsible for the clients that are assigned to you and ensure that their requests are met.

Your primary responsibilities will include:
-Tier 2/3 Support
-Troubleshooting Server and PC based hardware and software issues
-Administering Mainly Barracuda and some off the shelf Routers and Firewalls
-Performing installation / removal of software
-Researching IT products and services for upcoming and ongoing projects
-Providing Helpdesk: Field calls from users and assist them with issues
-Providing Onsite Support: Assist users onsite
-Assisting with documentation of procedures and standards related to network hardware, mobile device acquisition, use, support, and security
-Supporting Office 365

-This is not a work from home position

Qualifications and Skills

Skills/Requirements:
-Ability to administer a Window AD (Create / Remove Users), Required
-Working Knowledge of Office 365, Domains, Etc. Required
-Working knowledge of windows operating systems, required
-Understanding of Network security concepts and practices, required
-Ability to communicate orally and written, required
-Ability to have attention to detail and documentation practices, required
-Ability to work M-F with occasional weekends and afterhours
-Transportation with Insurance required to work at offsite locations - Expenses reimbursed
-Experience with Cyber Security, a plus
-Experience with design and deployment of networks, a plus
-Experience with TCP / IP protocols, a plus
-Experience working with Routers, a plus
-Experience with Microsoft Office 365 Administration, a plus

- Project Management skills is a plus

-Network + or Equivalent, a plus
-Experience with Voice Products, a plus
- Knowledge of Wireless Point to Point technology, a plus
-2 or 4 Year College Degree is preferred but not required, however, you must have strong business communication skills
