Full Job Description

Job Duties:

Work with meter reading system. Create, load, and unload meter reading accounts. Check and make work orders from meter reading report. Create high/low usage list. Run reading estimates on all reading accounts. Check unread meter report. Penalize late accounts. Print delinquent report and create delinquent work orders for shut offs. Manual meter posting, change meter info, and calculate special meter sheets. Receive and give readings to other water/sewer departments. Enter all information into computer for all work orders completed by distribution. Enter new taps. Charge all materials. Assess delinquent turn on charge. Make up accounts for new customers. Run trial journal for each billing district and check/correct any errors. Run and check; receipts journal, adjustment journal, cycle reset report, actual billing journal, and final bill posting/refund report before printing bills. Print regular and delinquent bills twice per month. Pre-sort bills for post office and type postage sheet. Run deposit refund report. Assess debits/credits to customers’ accounts. Figure adjustments to customers’ accounts for underground water breaks. Add/adjust bankruptcy accounts. Install SSI updates. Answer phone calls from customers. Assist customers in office. Assist distribution on radio. Maintain composure when dealing with the public. Assist management as needed. Work area must be in a neat and organized manner at all times. Desk area must be cleared at the end of the work day.

Monday-Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm

Additional Job Duties:

Performs other related duties as required. Overtime work when and if needed.

Major Work Characteristics:

Bookkeeping; typing; adding machine; filing; computer skills; excel spreadsheets; word documents; perform cashier duties; read, copy, and record figures accurately; neat hand writing; basic math including percentages and decimals; figuring bills based on gallons; ability to follow and comprehend written/verbal instructions; answering phone; pleasant personality; operating various office equipment; maintain accuracy; multi-tasking.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Education; computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Excel & Word; valid driver’s license.
