Full Job Description

PSIMED Corrections, LLC, a leading behavioral health provider, is seeking a part-time (12 hours per week) Therapist to provide diagnostic assessments, therapy, counseling and support services for a diverse caseload of youth offenders onsite at the Ohio/Marshall County Youth Reporting Center.

Job Requirements

Provide direct clinical services and consultation services.

Collaborate and work effectively with other PSIMED staff, WVBJS personnel, Juvenile Probation Officers, Juvenile Drug Court, juveniles, families and outside support agencies.

Provide group, individual and family therapy to juveniles and their families with the goals of reducing maladaptive behavior and fostering effective, pro-social functioning. Duties include, but are not limited to screening, facilitation and documentation of participation in each session.

Participate in the development of a comprehensive, individualized, multidisciplinary treatment plan that will be maintained for each juvenile in the program.

Administration and interpretation of assessments for depression, suicidality, substance abuse, risk and need.

Serve as a liaison for WVBJS with professionals such as judges, attorneys, probation officers, DHHR and family members.

Provide crisis intervention services to juveniles as referred by the WVBJS staff, medical staff or resident self-referral. Crisis intervention is required when a resident demonstrates self-mutilation, suicidal behavior, psychotic behavior or psychological distress.

Education

Requires a Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or a related behavioral science field from an accredited college or university or completing final semester at an accredited educational institution obtaining a Master's in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or a related behavioral science field.

License

Requires a current license or be license eligible with temporary or supervision status with the respective licensing board.

Experience

Must have professional experience which demonstrates knowledge of mental health counseling, group and individual psychotherapy, diagnosis and treatment of major mental disorders and behavioral management/modification techniques.

Experience working with children, adolescents and families in a mental health facility or a mental health agency is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with others.

· Ability to deal calmly and appropriately with stressful situations. Maintain professionalism with clients and teammates.

· Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in accordance with PSIMED Corrections and WVBJS policies, procedures and practices.

· Proficient computer skills including EMR.
