Full Job Description

SUMMARY: The Accounting Manager plays a critical role in supporting the company’s financial operations and continuous improvement initiatives. This position is responsible for executing core accounting functions, enhancing financial processes, and collaborating across departments including HR, IT, and operations. The role requires strong analytical capability, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. As a key contributor within a growing organization, the Accounting Manager supports both strategic and day-to-day financial activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes, but is not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Responsible for accurate and timely monthly reporting of financial and production information to plant management and the corporate entity.

· Period closing activities including journal entries, month end accruals and account reconciliations.

· Daily cash management functions including timely deposits and cash applications, maintaining cash flow forecasts, decisions related to managing cash flow for AP, payroll and other obligations of the company.

· Prepares financial forecast, budgets, long-range planning and analysis for the business.

· Prepares financial analyses to support sales and operations-related decision making as we make investment decisions (scope mainly focused on full product margins and working capital)

Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules.
Monthly bank reconciliations.
Work with all members of the Silgan Finance Team and cross functionally to automate, streamline, and improve efficiency of existing processes.
Responsible for government reporting: manufacturing personal property tax returns, manufacturing real estate property tax returns, census reporting, sales & use tax compliance, etc.
Involvement in inventory valuation in our ERP software and analysis of transactional inventory accounting within our system.
Perform analysis of customer profitability and product margins.
Cooperate with internal and external auditors and respond timely to their requests.
Ad hoc tasks as assigned by management.

Food Safety Management System

All employees are required to understand and follow all Silgan Food Safety Management System policies and procedures. In addition, employees are responsible for reporting problems with the Food Safety Management System to a supervisor, manager or the Quality Systems Representative.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required with a minimum 3-5 years + accounting experience, including general ledger and financial reporting, public accounting, or accounting role in a manufacturing environment.
Strong financial accounting and business analytic skills.
Strong computer and IT skills with advanced knowledge of MS Office and ERP/Mfg software.
Ability to report and interpret accurate financial results.
Detailed orientated and ability to consistently meet deadlines.
Demonstrated experience and results in leading business process improvement teams.
