Experienced Gymnastics Instructor / Coach
White Bluff Ballet & More — White Bluff, Tennessee
Position Overview
White Bluff Ballet & More is seeking an experienced, safety-minded gymnastics instructor to help lead and grow our recreational gymnastics program.
Our primary need is an instructor who has the knowledge, judgment, attentiveness, and physical ability necessary to safely teach and spot students performing Level 3 and Level 4 gymnastics skills. The right instructor must be able to recognize proper technique, identify unsafe movement, provide appropriate corrections, and physically support students when spotting is required.
The instructor must also be comfortable teaching students at different ages and ability levels, including beginner, preschool, and toddler classes when needed.
This is a part-time independent contractor opportunity, not a traditional hourly employee position. The instructor will propose their available teaching hours, and the studio will develop class offerings around mutually agreeable availability and student demand.
Initial teaching hours will likely be limited but may grow as additional classes are established and enrollment increases.

- Maintain accurate student progression records.
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, and studio leadership.
- Report injuries, safety concerns, behavioral problems, or other significant incidents promptly.

- Previous experience teaching recreational gymnastics.

Christian Mission Requirement
White Bluff Ballet & More is an openly Christian studio. Our Christian faith is not simply part of our advertising; it is central to how we teach, operate, and serve our students and families.
Classes begin with a brief Bible verse or devotional thought. Instructors are expected to participate in this practice and help reinforce biblical character, conduct, and values in an age-appropriate manner.
Because actively carrying out our Christian mission is part of the instructor’s responsibilities, a sincere Christian faith and genuine alignment with the mission and values of White Bluff Ballet & More are essential requirements for this position.
Independent Contractor Structure
This opportunity is structured as an independent contractor relationship.
- The instructor proposes their available teaching hours and preferred schedule.
- Class times are established through mutual agreement.
- The instructor has appropriate autonomy over teaching methods while following required safety standards, skill benchmarks, and student progressions.

- White Bluff Ballet & More provides the instructional space and standard shared-use gymnastics equipment.
- The instructor is responsible for their own taxes and ongoing professional education or certification.

Once classes are scheduled, instructors are expected to provide reasonable notice of cancellations, schedule changes, or requested time away.
Compensation
Compensation is percentage-based rather than a guaranteed hourly wage.
Instructors receive 30% of the tuition collected from students enrolled in the classes they teach. Compensation therefore varies according to the number of students enrolled in the instructor’s classes.
Depending on class enrollment, this generally produces an estimated equivalent of approximately $15–$35 per instructional hour. The hourly range displayed on Indeed is an estimate for comparison purposes only and is not a guaranteed hourly rate.
Participation in recitals, showcases, rehearsals, and other events involving the instructor’s students is considered part of the instructor’s overall instructional role and percentage-based compensation.
Schedule
- Part-time.
- Approximately 2–10 instructional hours per week initially.
- Hours depend on instructor availability, class development, and student enrollment.
- Additional teaching opportunities may become available as enrollment grows.
- Afternoon, evening, and/or weekend availability may be needed.
- Scheduling is established through mutual agreement.

The strongest candidate will be someone who:

- Can maintain control of a class without being unnecessarily harsh.
- Enjoys teaching both young beginners and developing athletes.
- Is reliable and follows through on commitments.
