Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner for Occupational Health is responsible for providing services for employees of White Plains Hospital and corporate accounts with services that include, assessing, and diagnosing, prescribing, treating and educating employees. The NP position will also be responsible for creating and developing wellness programs for the employees in collaboration with the wellness coaches and other members of the interdisciplinary team. In addition, the Nurse Practitioner will manage the Light Duty/Return-to-Work Accommodation Program, serving as the primary point of contact for coordinating modified duty assignments, ensuring compliance with medical recommendations, and facilitating a safe and timely return to work for employees
Essential Functions
- Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
- Performs occupational health services to White Plains Hospital employees and other corporations, such as but not
- limited to, pre-employment physicals, illness evals and vaccine administration.
- Orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and diagnostic testing.
- Participate in employee wellness programs by supporting chronic disease management initiatives.
- Develop disease prevention programs (i.e. hypertension, diabetes, and asthma).
- Acts as a content expert, resource person, consultant and facilitator on issues related to Occupational Health and
- Corporate Health.
- Participates in preventing work related injuries and provides acute and follow up care when the need arises.
- Monitor health status of employees and offer resources to help reduce health risk.
- Treating injuries and illness for employees, including follow up and referrals.
- Counseling employee on physical and mental health issues and guide them toward community resources and the
- employee assistance program.
- Assists with Return to Work/Light Duty program.
- Participates in the Flu program.
- Participates in outreach and marketing endeavors for the Occupational Health/Wellness department.
- Participates in team meetings and conferences to enhance a multidisciplinary approach to employee health.
- Assures compliance with state regulations and accreditation standards.
- 16. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- MSN Nursing Required
- 1-3 years Experience working as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility Required
- 4-6 years 2-5 years NP experience preferred Preferred
- Sound clinical nursing skills (High proficiency)
- Registered Nurse New York - New York State Board of Nursing Required
- Nurse Practitioner - Adult Health - New York State Board of Nursing Required or
- Nurse Practitioner - Family Health - New York State Board of Nursing Required
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association Required
- BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association Required
- CERTIFIED OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH NURSE SPECIALIST - AMERICAN BOARD FOR OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH NURSES (ABOHN) Certified Occupational Health Nurse Preferred
- AANP Family Nurse Practitioner - American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Required or
ANCC Family Nurse Practitioner Board Certified - American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Required
