Full Job Description

Chalk Mountain Services of Texas, LLC is a leading provider of transportation and logistics services to the oil and gas extraction industry. The company is is currently based in Fort Worth, TX and is currently adding a Payroll Coordinator.

The Payroll Coordinator will support the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our organization. This role is ideal for a payroll professional with hands-on systems experience who is looking to grow within a collaborative payroll and HR team.

Key Responsibilities:

Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policy and applicable laws
Enter and audit timekeeping data, new hires, terminations, and pay changes within the payroll system
Calculate and process deductions, garnishments, benefits contributions, and tax withholdings
Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies before each pay cycle
Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and payroll policies
Assist with year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation and audits
Maintain accurate payroll records in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Support internal and external audits by providing requested payroll documentation
Collaborate with HR and Accounting to ensure alignment on employee data and cost allocations
Identify and help implement process improvements within the payroll workflow

Required Qualifications:

4-5 years of experience processing payroll in a corporate or multi-state environment
Hands-on experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, Workday, UKG/Kronos, Dayforce, or similar)
Solid understanding of payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and general compliance requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, basic formulas)
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy under deadline pressure
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with multi-state or multi-entity payroll processing
Familiarity with HRIS integrations and payroll/HR system implementations
Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or working toward Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
