We are looking for an Experienced General Manager to lead, develop, and inspire our Variable and Fixed Operations team at Suburban CDJR of Ann Arbor. This role is a key driver of performance, culture, and customer experience.

What You'll Do

Reporting to the Vice President, Operations, the General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and profitability of an OEM franchise dealership. This onsite role provides strategic direction and operational oversight for all dealership functions, including Sales, F&I, Service, and Parts. The GM is accountable for driving financial results, delivering an exceptional customer experience, developing high-performing teams, and ensuring compliance with OEM standards and company policies.

Lead all aspects of dealership operations, including Sales, F&I, Service, Parts, and Administration, ensuring alignment across departments and consistent execution of business objectives.
Drive dealership profitability through effective management of revenue, expenses, inventory, departmental performance, and overall financial results.
Establish and execute strategic plans to grow market share, improve operational efficiency, and achieve short- and long-term business goals.
Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain high-performing leadership teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Analyze and manage key performance indicators including sales, gross profit, fixed operations performance, customer retention, inventory turn, and expense control.
Champion a customer-first culture that delivers exceptional experiences, increases loyalty, and drives Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) performance.
Build and maintain strong partnerships with OEM representatives, vendors, community stakeholders, and internal corporate leadership.
Ensure compliance with all OEM standards, manufacturer programs, company policies, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Lead change management initiatives, improve operational processes, and identify opportunities to enhance dealership performance and profitability.
Act as liaison between the store and Lithia Home Office. Receive and communicate policy and procedure requirements/updates and hold staff accountable to them.
Ensure all Human Resource/Human Development issues are handled in accordance with company policy by partnering with dealership support teams for guidance.
Serve as the face of the dealership within the community while promoting the organization's values, reputation, and our commitment to providing an excellent experience for our guests.
All other duties as assigned by leadership.

What You'll Bring

5+ years of progressive automotive retail leadership experience, including executive-level dealership management.
Proven success managing dealership operations and driving profitability.
Strong understanding of Sales, F&I, Service, and Parts operations, along with the ability to oversee the dealership's used car operations and remarketing efforts.
Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
Strong financial acumen, including experience with P&L management, forecasting, and KPI accountability.
Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
Acceptable driving record and a valid driver's license in your state of residence.

Total Rewards

Starting at $200,000+/annually

This is a performance based position that includes: salary/base/hourly offset with opportunity to earn commission, bonus, and equity based on store and individual accomplishments. Actual pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and physical location. Final compensation will be established through the interview process in accordance with applicable pay equity and transparency laws.
