Full Job Description

Medical Director (MD/DO/Internal Medicine)

Location: Hybrid Remote – Los Angeles, CA 90029

Employment Type: Part-Time / Contract

Compensation: Starting at $2,000 per month (commensurate with experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and physician oversight for our outpatient healthcare practice serving the Medicare population. The Medical Director will ensure the highest standards of patient care, maintain compliance with all applicable federal and California regulations, and support the organization’s mission of delivering high-quality, patient-centered healthcare.

The ideal candidate is a licensed California physician with strong clinical judgment, leadership experience, and a commitment to quality improvement and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Provide physician oversight and clinical leadership for the practice.

Ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based patient care.

Develop, review, and implement clinical policies, procedures, and treatment protocols.

Collaborate with executive leadership to improve clinical operations, patient outcomes, and strategic initiatives.

Monitor compliance with Medicare, HIPAA, and applicable California healthcare regulations.

Oversee quality assurance and performance improvement programs.

Review clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Support provider credentialing, peer review, and clinical performance evaluations.

Promote patient safety, risk management, and continuous quality improvement.

Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and clinical staff.

Participate in compliance reviews, audits, and accreditation activities as needed.

Maintain current knowledge of Medicare guidelines, clinical best practices, and regulatory changes.

Qualifications

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.

Active, unrestricted California Physician and Surgeon License.

Current DEA registration (if applicable to clinical responsibilities).

Minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice experience; leadership or Medical Director experience preferred.

Thorough knowledge of Medicare regulations, clinical documentation requirements, and quality reporting standards.

Strong understanding of HIPAA, patient privacy, and healthcare compliance.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems preferred.

Preferred Experience

Primary Care, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Geriatric Medicine.

Experience caring for Medicare and Medicare Advantage patients.

Experience in outpatient or ambulatory care settings.

Familiarity with quality programs, value-based care, and population health initiatives.
