Overview
We are seeking an Acoustical Ceiling Mechanic to join our construction team. This role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining acoustical ceiling systems on commercial and residential projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with various construction techniques and an understanding of blueprint reading, schematics, and construction safety protocols. Candidates with a background in carpentry, drywall, or related trades are encouraged to apply. We are willing to train the right, motivated individual. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilizing a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain acoustical ceiling systems according to project specifications and blueprints
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and construction drawings to ensure accurate installation
- Measure, cut, fabricate, and assemble ceiling components using hand tools and power tools
- Coordinate with project managers, electricians, plumbers, and other trades to ensure seamless integration of ceiling systems with other building elements
- Operate heavy equipment as needed for material handling or site preparation
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety standards and protocols
- Inspect completed work for quality assurance and compliance with project requirements
- Assist in the fabrication of ceiling components when necessary
- Perform related tasks such as caulking, trim carpentry, fixture installation, and restoration work as required
Experience
- Proven experience in acoustical ceiling installation or related construction trades such as drywall, framing, or carpentry
- Familiarity with construction management practices and construction estimating is a plus
- Experience working on construction sites with knowledge of safety procedures and site protocols
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately
- Skills in using hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment operation, and fabrication techniques
- Knowledge of additional skills such as roofing, masonry, welding, flooring installation, tile laying, plastering, stucco application, glass installation, cabinet installation, door hanging, remodeling, concrete finishing, or construction painting is advantageous
- Strong understanding of construction inspection processes and quality control standards
