POSITION TITLE:
Marketing and Communications Coordinator (Full Time, Non-Exempt)
Pay Rate: $18 per hour
ROLE:
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator supports the Director of Marketing and Communications in the execution of marketing, design, social media, and communications efforts. This role is responsible for day-to-day production needs, digital updates, social media content support, and maintaining clear, consistent communication across platforms. The position requires strong attention to detail, flexibility, creativity, and a collaborative approach to supporting a wide range of marketing initiatives, campaigns, events, and institutional communications. Starting rate is $18 per hour.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Create, adapt, resize, and maintain graphic assets for marketing, communications, exhibitions, programs, events, and advertising across print, web, email, social media, signage, and digital platforms.
- Prepare and manage creative files for print and digital production, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to institutional branding, design standards, approved messaging, and image rights protocols.
- Update and maintain website content, online listings, calendars, event and exhibition information, images, and other digital materials to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent communication.
- Support social media content development and execution by creating graphics and content concepts, drafting captions, scheduling and publishing posts, maintaining content calendars, monitoring engagement, organizing photo and video assets, and tracking performance through reporting and analytics.
- Assist with the development, production, distribution, and proofreading of marketing, communications, press, promotional, and institutional materials.
- Maintain organized communication systems, image libraries, media assets, project files, and production workflows to support campaigns, exhibitions, programs, events, and institutional communications.
- Provide administrative and project support, including scheduling, correspondence, invoice processing, and assistance with special projects and evolving departmental priorities.
- Support the Director of Marketing and Communications and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification: High School diploma required. Associates degree preferred.
Required Knowledge: Proficiency in Adobe Create Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator; experience preparing files for print and digital use, experience with website CMS platforms, familiarity with social media platforms, scheduling tools and digital communication tools.
Experience Required: Minimum two years’ experience with social media marketing and communications. Adaptable to working with diverse communication models, digital technologies, and analytical tools.
Skills/Abilities: Strong eye for design, layout, typography and visual consistency, strong attention to detail, organization and time management, ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities, strong communication skills and a collaborative working style, interest in arts, culture, museums, nonprofit communications or public engagement preferred.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
Talking: Ability to speak effectively and communicate clearly.
Average Hearing: Ability to hear average conversations at a standard level in a museum environment around other employees and visitors
Repetitive Motion: The employee will frequently type on a keyboard continuously throughout the day.
Finger Dexterity: The employee is regularly required to use hands to type on a keyboard and maneuver a mouse.
Average Vision: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust the focus with 20/20 vision (with or without the assistance of eyeglasses/contacts)
Physical Strength: The position involves standard light duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS
General professional indoor museum environment with climate control and adequate lighting. Occasional hours worked during evenings and weekends in order to meet organizational needs and deadlines.
