Full Job Description

Looking for meaningful, flexible work where you can make a real impact? Youth Horizons is seeking PRN Youth Care Workers who can provide support, structure, and safety for youth in residential care whenever full‑time staff are unavailable.

In this PRN role (short for the Latin phrase 'pro re nata,' meaning 'as needed'), you will step in to ensure continuity, supervision, and care for youth during staffing gaps. This role is perfect for individuals seeking flexible, mission‑driven work in a faith‑based environment.

What You’ll Do:

Provide a safe, caring, and structured environment for youth
Monitor youth and ensure safety throughout the shift
Support youth during transitions between full‑time staff shifts
Engage youth in skill‑building and positive activities
Model positive behavior and communication
Assist in crisis intervention and de‑escalation when needed
Encourage youth in daily routines and independent living skills
Communicate effectively with full‑time staff and maintain documentation

What We’re Looking For:

A genuine desire to serve youth who have experienced trauma
Strong communication, patience, and emotional resilience
Ability to stay calm in high‑stress situations
Flexible and reliable availability
At least 21 years old (required by Kansas regulation)
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record

Faith & Cultural Expectations:

Demonstrate Christ‑like behavior in all interactions
Promote Gospel‑centered values
Participate in a local church community when possible

Schedule & Commitment:

PRN / As‑Needed
Minimum 6 hours every other month required
Shifts may include days, evenings, weekends, or overnights as needed

Compensation:

From $17.00 per hour
PRN positions do not qualify for benefits
