Museum Teacher (Non-Exempt)
POSITION TITLE:
Museum Teacher (Non-Exempt)

ROLE:
The Wichita Art Museum’s Part Time Seasonal Museum Teacher will be responsible for leading tours and educational programs for visitors ranging in age from preschoolers to adults. Museum teachers will collaborate with staff in the Learning, Engagement, and Partnerships (LEAP) Department to plan and implement programs in the galleries and in the art studio that focus on both the permanent collection and featured exhibitions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead engaging and educational tours for K-12 students in the permanent collection and featured exhibitions.
- Plan and implement art-looking and artmaking workshops for K-12 student groups.
- Facilitate programs and tours for college students and adults, including WAM Nights programs on Friday evenings, private tours, and artmaking workshops.
- Assist LEAP staff in implementing Family ArtVentures and other programs for families.
- Assist with programs for preschoolers as needed, including Art Start and Storytime.
- Collaborate on program planning with LEAP staff, including Manager of School and Family Programs, Director of LEAP, and Coordinator of LEAP.
- Modify gallery and studio experiences to meet visitor needs, accommodate varying abilities, and address teacher requests.
- Immediately notify WAM staff of issues impacting visitor safety and well-being.
- Attend training sessions on works of art and teaching strategies prior to leading tours and programs.
- Regularly check email to stay informed about tour schedule, museum updates, and other communication from LEAP staff.
- Assist with visitor services functions, such as facilitating COVES (Collaboration for Ongoing Visitor Experience Studies) intercept surveys.
- Various other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification: B.A. degree in relevant field of art education, studio art, museum education, or art history preferred.
Experience Required: 1+ years working with school-aged children in a learning environment.
Required knowledge: Strong knowledge of art and artmaking techniques, knowledge of art teaching methods.
Skills/Abilities: Able to plan and successfully implement artmaking experiences for K-12 students and adults, strong ability to provide high-quality instruction for visitors who vary in age and experience, able to create a positive and supportive environment for students and adult visitors to learn and have fun, able to communicate clearly and effectively, able to follow tour and program plans while also adapting it as necessary for students’ and adults’ needs, able to maintain effective working relationships with WAM staff, other museum teachers, volunteer docents, students and teachers, strong computer literacy and ability, proven organizational skills, strong public speaking, communication and presentation skills required. Bilingual candidates with proficiency in Spanish preferred.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Talking: Ability to speak effectively and communicate clearly
Average Hearing: Ability to hear average conversations at a standard level in a museum gallery environment around other visitors and co-workers
Repetitive Motion: The employee is regularly required to move around the museum, and type throughout their day.
Finger Dexterity: The employee is occasionally required to use their hands to type on a keyboard and maneuver a mouse.
Average Vision: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus with 20/20 vision (with or without the assistance of eyeglasses/contacts)
Physical Strength: The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds (unassisted) as well as stand, sit, bend, kneel, squat, and walk for long periods of time.

WORKING CONDITIONS
General professional indoor museum environment with climate control and adequate lighting. Flexible hours worked including during weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization.

Accounting and HR Coordinator (Full-Time, Non-Exempt)
POSITION TITLE:
Accounting and HR Coordinator (Full-Time, Non-Exempt)

ROLE:
The Wichita Art Museum is looking for a reliable, detail-oriented individual with strong numerical and analytical skills. The Accounting and HR Coordinator will be an integral part of the payroll/accounting team surrounded by a premier American art collection. The Accounting and HR Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring accurate employee compensation, smooth payroll operations, compliance with organizational policies, and bridging HR and accounting functions while maintaining meticulous records and reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Process weekly and biweekly payroll for employees.
- Verify employee time records, attendance, and overtime hours. Resolve discrepancies within payroll system.
- Process payroll adjustments and ensure compliance with payroll policies.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll reports.
- Respond to employee questions regarding pay, benefits, and deductions.
- Assist with other accounting duties such as preparing reports, bank and other reconciliations, accounts payable and budgeting.
- Assist with audits and year-end payroll activities, including tax forms.
- Coordinate HR administration, including the annual review process.
- Maintain accurate HR, payroll records, and employee information.
- Other administrative tasks as needed and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred or equivalent experience.

Required Knowledge: Payroll software and Microsoft Excel, strong numerical, organizational, data-entry skills, high attention to detail and accuracy a must, and must uphold absolute confidentiality at all times.

Experience Required: Previous payroll or accounting experience preferred.

Skills/Abilities: Payroll processing, data entry and recordkeeping, mathematical and analytical skills, communication and customer service, time management, problem-solving, proficiency with payroll systems and spreadsheets.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
