Full Job Description

Quality Manager – Aviation MRO

Location: Wichita, KS
Industry: Aerospace / Aviation Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO)

AMETEK is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead our Quality Assurance team within a dynamic FAA-certificated Repair Station environment. This critical leadership role is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance, driving continuous improvement initiatives, supporting operational excellence, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Do:

As the Quality Manager, you will oversee all inspection, quality, calibration, auditing, and compliance activities associated with the maintenance, repair, overhaul, testing, and return-to-service of aviation components and articles.

You will serve as a key liaison with the FAA, customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders while leading a high-performing quality organization focused on safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and develop the Quality and Inspection team.
Oversee all inspection activities supporting induction, teardown, assembly, testing, and return-to-service operations.
Manage and maintain:
Inspection Program
Calibration Program
Non-Conforming Product Program
NDT Program
Process Control Testing Program
Quarantine and Scrap Management Programs
Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, customer requirements, and company procedures.
Facilitate and lead internal and external quality audits.
Serve as the primary point of contact during FAA, customer, and government audits and surveys.
Maintain and administer Repair Station Manual (RSM) and Quality Control Manual (QCM) requirements.
Investigate quality issues and report failures, malfunctions, and defects to leadership.
Identify operational risks and partner with Operations and Quality leadership to implement corrective actions.
Drive employee training and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support customer and supplier quality surveys and assessments.
Collaborate cross-functionally to improve quality performance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Act as a backup to the Director of Quality when needed.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Utilize technology and AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and operational efficiency.
Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring:

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum 5 years of aviation experience in an airline, FAA Repair Station, or MRO environment.
Minimum 3 years of quality, inspection, or aviation maintenance leadership experience.
Current or previously held FAA Repairman Certificate required.
Thorough understanding of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
Strong knowledge of inspection methods, techniques, and equipment used to determine airworthiness.
Proven experience leading teams and driving quality initiatives.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
Experience managing Repair Station Manuals (RSM) and Quality Control Manuals (QCM).
Experience with Quantum and Microsoft Office applications.
Prior leadership experience in an FAA-certificated repair station or aerospace manufacturing environment.

Work Environment:

Primarily indoor repair station and shop environment.
