Position Summary
The Special Projects Coordinator supports Wichita Habitat for Humanity’s strategic priorities by coordinating programs, strengthening partnerships, supporting families, and advancing initiatives that increase housing opportunities in our community.
A primary focus of this position will be coordinating Wichita Habitat’s role in the Tapestry initiative, a collaborative community effort designed to connect families with resources that support housing stability. This position will work closely with community partners, internal teams, and participating families to coordinate services, track progress, identify barriers, and help create pathways toward long-term success.
The Special Projects Coordinator will also support organizational initiatives related to homeowner services, program development, construction pipeline planning, land acquisition efforts, workforce development, and process improvement.
What You’ll Do:
Build Relationships & Coordinate Community Partnerships
- Serve as the primary coordinator for Wichita Habitat’s involvement in the Tapestry initiative.
- Develop strong working relationships with community organizations, service providers, and internal teams.
- Collaborate across organizations to align goals, coordinate activities, and move shared priorities forward.
- Understand community resources and help connect families with appropriate services and opportunities.
Support Families Through Housing Stability Pathways
- Build trusting relationships with families while providing encouragement, guidance, and accountability.
- Help families identify goals, overcome barriers, and navigate available resources.
- Connect participants with Wichita Habitat programs, including homeownership pathways, home repair services, financial education, and coaching opportunities.
- Use a strengths-based approach while helping participants stay engaged and accountable.
Coordinate Programs & Drive Results
- Coordinate delivery of housing stability programming, including Housing 101 and Budgeting 101 courses.
- Manage schedules, communications, participant tracking, and program logistics.
- Maintain accurate records and use data to monitor progress, identify trends, and improve programs.
- Prepare reports and support grant applications by documenting outcomes, impact, and community needs.
Support Strategic Initiatives
- Assist with projects that strengthen Wichita Habitat’s ability to serve more families.
- Support homeowner services pipeline development, neighborhood outreach, and program growth opportunities.
- Help improve systems, processes, and communication across departments.
- Support special projects related to workforce development, internships, construction coordination, and organizational priorities.

Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, nonprofit management, community development, business administration, public administration, human services, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 2–4 years of experience in program coordination, project management, case management, community services, or related work.
- Experience working with community partners, diverse populations, or family-focused programs.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and communicate program data and outcomes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and ability to learn new systems.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally.
Preferred:
- Experience in affordable housing, nonprofit organizations, community development, or human services.
- Knowledge of community resources and social service networks.
- Experience with grant reporting, program evaluation, or outcome measurement.
- Experience using project management tools such as Smartsheet.
- Familiarity with residential construction or housing programs.
