Full Job Description

Job Title: Forming Department Specialist / Press Brake Operator

Job Type: Full-time, In-person

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Press Brake Operator to control large machines used to bend and shape metal sheets within our fabrication shop. In this role, you will review blueprints, take precise measurements, and feed raw materials into programmed brake presses to produce custom sheets and metal parts. Additionally, this position serves as the primary operational point of contact for our forming department, helping coordinate day-to-day activities and promoting company safety and quality standards.

Job Functions & Responsibilities:

Machine Operation & Maintenance: Set up, operate, and maintain press brake machines, including routine care like changing oil/filters and degreasing parts.
Blueprint Reading: Read and accurately interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications.
Quality Control: Inspect sheet metal during and after production to identify imperfections and ensure precision.
Material Handling: Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other lifting devices to maneuver materials and projects.
Department Coordination: Act as the main point of contact for the forming department. Coordinate day-to-day activities and foster all SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost) initiatives.
Collaboration: Maintain open communication with the Shop Foreman, Engineers, and Project Managers.
Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to safety regulations, including wearing required PPE and maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
Other Duties: Perform additional tasks on the shop floor as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Press Brake Machine experience (Required).
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
Skills: Strong measurement and math skills to ensure project precision; previous forklift/crane certifications preferred.
Commute: Ability to reliably commute to Norwalk, OH 44857 (Preferred).

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Must be comfortable working in a shop floor environment.
Ability to sit, stand, balance, stoop, kneel, walk, and use hands/fingers to handle tools and materials.
Frequent lifting of up to 40 pounds.
Hours are dictated by workload and may occasionally require more than a typical 40-hour workweek.
