CarbonZero is building one of the largest biochar carbon-removal facilities in North America, converting agricultural biomass into durable carbon removal and high-value biochar products.
We are hiring Carbon Removal Technicians to help operate our production facility in Williams, California. This is a hands-on industrial role at the center of a new climate infrastructure industry.
About the Role
As a Carbon Removal Technician, you will help run continuous pyrolysis equipment, monitor production systems, handle biomass and biochar materials, support maintenance activities, and ensure the facility operates safely, cleanly, and consistently.
This role is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, dependable, comfortable around equipment, and interested in doing real work that matters. You do not need prior biochar experience. We will train the right people.

As a Carbon Removal Technician, you are not just running a machine. You are helping turn agricultural waste into permanent carbon removal, soil-improving biochar, and a new category of climate infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor biochar production equipment, conveyors, augers, pumps, fans, burners, and related plant systems.
- Load, move, and manage biomass feedstock and finished biochar using facility equipment.
- Perform routine inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and basic preventative maintenance.
- Track production data, temperatures, equipment readings, and material flow.
- Follow safety procedures for hot equipment, dust, fire prevention, confined areas, heavy machinery, and industrial operations.
- Assist with startup, shutdown, troubleshooting, and general facility upkeep.
- Work with the operations team to improve reliability, quality, and throughput.

- Comfortable with physical work, outdoor conditions, dust, heat, and shift-based operations.
- Able to communicate clearly and work as part of a small team.
- Interested in learning a new industrial process with long-term growth potential.
