Forestry & Farm Manager
Location: Western Massachusetts (Near the Vermont & New York Borders)
A Rare Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate, hardworking individual to oversee the stewardship and ongoing improvement of an extraordinary 1,100-acre private farm and forest property located in the scenic Berkshires of western Massachusetts.
This is far more than a typical forestry position. The property is managed for sustainable timber production while supporting a diverse mix of recreational and agricultural activities including hunting, maple syrup production, apple orchards, farming, wildlife habitat enhancement, and outdoor recreation.

Responsibilities
- Oversee ongoing forestry management projects in coordination with timber management plans
- Maintain and improve the property's interior road network and trail system
- Establish and maintain wildlife food plots
- Maintain apple orchards and other perennial plantings
- Assist with farming operations and management of tillable acreage
- Perform selective tree removal, trail clearing, and forest improvement work
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment, tractors, implements, chainsaws, and forestry equipment
- Operate a portable or stationary sawmill to process harvested timber
- Perform general equipment maintenance and repairs
- Assist with seasonal maple syrup production
- Support habitat improvement and land stewardship initiatives
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient working environment
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who enjoys working independently and takes ownership of their work.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience in forestry, farming, land management, or a related field
- Ability to safely operate heavy equipment and farm machinery
- Chainsaw experience and strong knowledge of safe tree-felling practices
- Experience operating or maintaining a sawmill
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to maintain and repair equipment
- Knowledge of wildlife habitat management is a plus
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver's license
