Full Job Description

Position requires basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices and computer payroll and bookkeeping programs, with the flexibility to adapt to changes in computerized accounting systems. Must be capable of dealing with diverse populations courteously in an open office setting. Person holding this position should be adaptable enough to work in a system where requirements often change and flexible enough to occasionally manage duties not specifically mentioned in the Job Description.

Under the supervision of the Financial Assistant and the Executive Director.

Tasks:

A. Prepare payroll using Quickbooks (currently), or other computerized system as required, including IRS deposits, employee benefits, etc.

B. Post and balance cash receipts.

C. Post Disbursements.

D. Responsible for all accounts payable/receivable.

E. Reconcile bank statements for Subsidy Programs.

F. Order office supplies as required.

G. Prepare monthly statement for accountant.

H. Do Municipal Employees Retirement Fund statement monthly.

I. Maintain Purchase Order System.

J. Do other financial and accounting work as required.

K. Responsible for preparation and billing of work order charges to tenants.

L. Participate in periodic inventory of non-expendable equipment and furnishings.

M. Do general office work as required, including answering phones, collecting rents, etc., when other employees are not available.

N. Do leases, recertifications and continued occupancy work with appropriate verification of income, etc. and enter information into the computer system.

O. Do legal work as needed, including small claims court related work for various projects.

P. Write work orders.

Q. Prepare cash receipts for bank deposit and perform related computer operations.

R. Complete verifications, reference forms and other tenant related paperwork.

S. Execute Leases and explain lease provisions to new tenants.

T. Assist other office staff if needed.

U. Do other work as directed by the Assistant Director and Executive Director.
