Duties
Plan, organize, and supervise recreational activities, social events, and programs for residents, including arts and crafts, exercise classes, games, music, holiday celebrations, and entertainment events.
Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program tailored to the interests, abilities, and needs of residents, including those with dementia and other age-related conditions.
Create engaging, innovative, and meaningful experiences that encourage participation and enhance quality of life.
Coordinate and lead therapeutic activities that promote physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
Collaborate with caregivers and other team members to ensure activities meet the individual needs of each resident.
Manage activity calendars and schedules, ensuring a variety of appealing options are available.
Decorate and help create a festive atmosphere for seasonal events, special occasions, and community celebrations.
Develop and maintain relationships with local community organizations, volunteers, entertainers, and vendors.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and programs, making improvements as needed based on resident feedback and participation.
Provide dementia care support and adapt programming to ensure residents with cognitive impairments can participate successfully.
Requirements
Experience working in senior care, assisted living, memory care, or a related field.
Passion for working with older adults and providing meaningful engagement opportunities.
Proven experience planning and implementing recreational, social, or therapeutic activity programs.
Creative mindset with the ability to develop new and exciting activity ideas.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple events, schedules, and projects.
Team-oriented attitude with the ability to collaborate effectively with residents, families, and staff.
Knowledge of aging issues, dementia care, and memory care principles preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certification in recreation therapy or a related field is desirable.
